Jeanette Walls at MSNBC is reporting the following on the news network's website; Ex-‘Idol’ contestant claims Abdul affair.
Before you get excited, consider the source; Corey Clark.
You remember Corey Clark, don't you?
From The Smoking Gun's archives:
STATEMENT REGARDING COREY CLARK AND AMERICAN IDOLMARCH 31, 2003
Due to events that have recently come to light, American Idol participant Corey Clark has been removed from the contest.
All participants are required to provide full and accurate information to assist in background checks, including disclosure of any prior arrests. Corey withheld information about a prior arrest which, had it been known, might have affected his participation in the show. Due to his failure to disclose, compounded by an error in a police report which misspelled Corey's name, the incident was not discovered during the background check. The producers and network feel that Corey's behavior warrants his disqualification.
Unfortunately, the search process is not perfect. We regret the error, but the only thing we can do is learn from the incident, continue to improve the background check process, and move on.
At this time, no decision has been made as to how this will impact this week's shows.
Corey, you see, was accused of beating the crap out of his kid sister. This was the little peccadillo Corey failed to disclose that got his goofy-looking bigheaded self booted. This page in TSG's archive details the charges as well as Clark's previous run-ins with the law for financial indiscretions. Before he tempted the heights of pop stardom, Clark tilted at the legal windmills of the monolith we know as Wal-Mart, challenging the retail behemoth with his rubber check writing ability.
I guess you want to know a little more about what Jeanette Walls is reporting if you haven't clicked over yet...here:
“[Abdul] told [Clark] she wanted to look out for him and be his ‘special friend,’” according to the Globe article. “But he claims she warned him that he couldn’t tell anyone or she’d make things very hard for him, cautioning, ‘Don’t screw me or you’ll be sorry.’” The proposal apparently also describes how Abdul once came up behind Clark, rubbed his neck, and then they began “kissing passionately and feeling each other up” as they moved to the guest bedroom.Continued on the next page Page 1 — Page 2

I believe Paula, and think there is a much higher chance that Corey lied. It also doesn't make a lot of sense that Paula would let her self get into a situation like that and then also turn around and threaten Corey. It all seems made up. Also I'd bet Paula is seasoned enough to know the risks of dating someone, how to handle it, the publicity and so on. Even if it had happened, which I doubt, it does show one thing for sure. It makes Corey look a giant jerk for not understanding that you don't brag to the world about what should remain intimate. But to me he sounds like he does a lot more bragging (lying) then having anything real happen for him anyway.

Corey Clark is nothing but a slime! I can't believe he even made it on to the American Idol show long enough to polute it. Of course his family will probably show up here to stick up for him, LOL. It won't change my opinion of him. One word description: Loser!

Great job, Steve. As my grandma used to say: "Once a liar, always a liar." (She also used to tell me it was just as easy to marry a rich man as a poor man, and THAT hasn't worked out so well, but I digress.)

well yes his family is here, but we will let abc defend our brother. Sorry your lives are boring, and full of nothing to where you talk about what, you know nothing about. If you are going to speak research "blogcritics.org", you should do just that research by your comments you obviously don't so hear from you losers after the 4th of may.

Corey Clark is a jerk and a loser. It is not Paulas fault that this boy lied about a criminal record, which is why he was released from the show. He and his family are now playing like victims. I hope his book and record deal just go away.

Ok, even IF he is telling the truth and they had the affair- he shouldn't be trying to put all the blame on Paula. He had the option of keeping it in his pants. If he were really that concerned with ethics and such, he wouldn't have done any of that to begin with.
Good job bro, in promoting yourself you killed any credibility you might have retained.

Corey is obviously a solid believer in that old "there is no such thing as bad publicity" thing... and well, there isn't, necessarily.
You can look at it as a remarkably savvy and conscience-less marketing ploy that he planned early on; like, why'd dude save the bottle of Phenergan she gave him that was in her name? Seems pretty well-thought-out by ole Corey.
And his album is still gonna suck large, hairy amounts of ass.
