Surprisingly, John Stevens was not in the bottom three. He seems to have a built-in fan base in middle America that will vote for him no matter how horrible he is. Fantasia, our front-runner, wasn't leaving tonight. Nor was George, who for some reason still seems amazed he hasn't been sent packing yet. Matt, who I had pegged for sure to leave tonight if Leah didn't, was safe. Apparently, the linebacker factor works in mysterious ways. Jasmine Trias also ran the gauntlet safely.
With the last three to go, Leah was positively about to burst from the pain of waiting. But this is AI, so Seacrest dragged out the weeding. Amy Adams, a great singer who delivered a lousy performance, was finally sent to give Leah some company. It came down to Jennifer Hudson and Camille Velasco. Jenn ended up in the bottom 3, though it can't have been by many votes.
Leah started to look hopeful, but anyone who saw last night's show knew better. Sure enough, Amy and her pink hair were sent right back to the couches.
At this point, it was a no-brainer, but it was still priceless to see that same shocked look on Leah's face when she found out her Hollywood dreams were being crushed on live national television. When Jennifer was declared safe, it was a great moment for the show. Leah's parting video and tear-streaked face should be the last we see of her for a long time.
Next week, I still say it's got to be John or Matt who leaves. Try as they might, the producers can't keep the men around forever...
