American Idol: Season 8 Finale: Chaotic and Flat! - Page 2

The final showdown was set for two of the best: Kris Allen, the dark horse from Arkansas, is very humble and stood out from the crowd because of his diversity (voice, guitar, and piano). Adam Lambert, the flash from California, who reminds me of Elvis and Alice Cooper combined, has a “unique voice and style,” is very charming and shined with his “rock star” quality from day one!

The finale was chaotic and flat. There were only a few performances that were worth watching: Adam with Kiss (I am no Kiss fan), Allison and Cyndi Lauper (no fan either), and Danny Gokey with Lionel Richie. I especially liked the performance of Kris and Adam with Queen ("We are the Champions"), but why did they keep bringing the final thirteen into every performance?

Did Rod Stewart trip on stage? How could Fergie walk, let alone dance, in that outfit? Where was the comic relief? Hardly from Kara, Katrina, and Tatiana. Where are Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Robert Downey Jr. when you need them? And why did America, with close to 100 million votes, choose Kris Allen over Adam Lambert as Season 8’s American Idol?

I was very impressed with the finale of Season 7 even though my guy, David Archuleta, didn’t win, so why did Season 8’s finale leave me indifferent? Am I still an American Idol fan? Not today. Today I’m just a critic. But there is always next year.

I must agree with you that this Season finale between Adam and Kris left me wondering... I'm unconvinced... Maybe they should change rules in voting...

My and I observed that this year's finale seemed less exciting than last year's. I'm not sure how much of that had to do with who won, though. We both were rooting for David Cook, who won, and I was rooting for Adam Lambert, who lost, while my wife was rooting for Danny Gokey, who came in third.

Still, it seemed *slightly* more subdued overall this year.

I thought it was a great finale. Of course, I was a Kris fan. The highlight for me was Kris Allen with Keith Urban. But that's probably because I love country music.

I loved Archuletta last year. I interviewed him last year at this AIDS charity event. Such a sweet guy. I just wanted to hug him.

    :)

i loved Adam/Kiss and the number with Queen-
i thought allison and cindi were great together....
    the result? disappointing.
afterwards i felt as tho i had been manipulated. i mean every year the underdog wins? doesn't matter how bad an underdog all season long? too coincidental for me- it's rigged. and obviously so.
