Brenna Gethers took the spotlight. I don't care for this one's personality at all. I'm sure that taints any judgment I make regarding her singing. She sang Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" to show her gentle side. Oh, gag me, Brenna! She was pitchy (I love to say that) and off-key now and then. Despite her hamming to cameras, it was a so-so boring performance. The judges? Well, they agreed with me. They think she chose a safe song and they wanted to see the "New York" and the catty Brenna they love. Oh, c'mon... I'm from New York and I just want her to "gether" her bags and head on home!
Heather Cox was the next one on stage singing "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" by last year's Idols. I don't like the song. Her performance isn't rocking my world, either. Simon calls it forgettable. I will.
Melissa McGhee sang Faith Hill's "When the Lights Go Down" — another song choice which far from thrills me. I'm not thrilled at all with her singing it, either. It's not that she's horrible. It's just not doing anything for me. Randy said some pitch problems and that it came together in the middle, but not amazing. Paula called it a shining moment for her and that it was amazing. Simon says she had been overshadowed by the bigger personalities. I wasn't amazed. Nope, I wasn't. Next!
Lisa Tucker's up. Her song is "I'm Changing" by Jennifer Holiday. Ohhh ... I'm impressed. This kid has got it! She performs without overdoing the performance (my problem with Paris tonight) and has a tremendous voice. Yay! Best performance of the night! Judges...? Randy was very impressed. Paula positively purple prosed her performance and said she's a star. Simon thinks she's going to be very good.
Kinnik Sky was next singing "Get Here" by Oleta Adams. Okay. I think she's sang it well, strong and on key. A good performance. Randy thinks the middle was rough. He gives it a 6. Now, it wasn't my favorite song choice, but I thought she sang it well enough. Paula thought performance was powerful, good showmanship. Simon says her problem was the incredible performances from such younger girls. It was a cabaret performance according to him.

OOPs, I meant Katharine McPhee

Chad -- I think Katharine really rocked last night, too. I liked her okay before last night's show, but she really was impressive in her solo. Although I'm putting Lisa right up there with her, I'm sure she's clinching the Final 6 Girls. Thanks for the site link -- I'll check it out!

The girls are really strong this year. I don't any of the guys even coming close to touching the talent that's in the girls this year.

Greasy Guide -- I don't know... some of the guys are getting a good Internet buzz. Ace has a very polished professional feel to his performances and I'm very interested to see where Taylor Hicks is going to go with his stuff. I'll be posting entries here and on my own blog (see URL) after the guys sing tonight. I could revert to my childhood and root for the Peter Brady lookin' Will Makar, but I won't.

Paris and Katharine are the two I've been watching out for since the auditions. I am glad to see they're doing so well. Lisa is good too, but something about her just doesn't excite me like Paris does.
If I picked who leaves for the gals? Brenna and Becky.

I can't argue with that, -E. My fear is that votes might keep Brenna on. Eep!

I disagree on Paris and Lisa. I liked Paris' performance more than Lisa but you were right on target with the rest.
