"Mr. Newton, you are too frightening for words. Prayers..."
Thank you Natalie for being so closed-minded as to not even consider what I have to say. Just because you think it's off the wall doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't on the mark.
In another blog entry on AI, you post a comment saying "Everything is political."
If you say that, you must understand that race and race relations affect people everyday, including the dynamics of AI.
Perhaps you need to watch the film "Crash" (2005) to see what I am talking about.
As a 'white' person, I would like to offer my support to Ms. Davis and actually go farther and say that T. Newton is racist.
I heard many Vonzell "fans" (really just black people supporting the last remaining black contestant..damn racists!)
No, Mr. Newton, the rest of the world doesn't focus on race as much as you do. I happen to think the final two should have been between Vonzell and Bo.
Mr. Jarboy, you are correct; informality with strangers and non-friends outside of my own personal space makes me uncomfortable. In particular, you are one who makes me feel not only uncomfortable, but miserable and sad. It is so obvious that you take pleasure in upsetting people.

How you can say that race and peoples attidudes towards race has NO effect on American Idol and its voting?
If you really think race and racism in America plays no part in AI, enjoy your ignorance. Ignorance is bliss.
Don't be stupid, Mr. Newton, er, Mr. Wait A Second. No one has said anything remotely resembling what you post in 31.

wow, nat, you've assigned a lot of power over you to someone you've never seen and know nothing about. u need to talk to dr. phil or someone about that. nothing u or anyone else says to me in a blog has any emotional effect whatsoever on me (well, sometimes a get a good laugh, but does that count as an emotion?), bec i don't know u and u mean absolutely nothing to me. i just come here for the laughs. u could be a lovely woman whom, if i met, might like quite a bit, or might despise. but for all i know, you could, in fact, be a 73 year old man with alzheimers. so why in god's (oops, mr. god's) good name would i let you have any power over me?! signed, mr. boy
Bob,
I live outside of Boston and I was not able to get one call in to Carrie's line...and I tried all three of them for over a half hour and just gave up in frustration. I must say that I also tried Bo's a few times and his was busy too. I could understand if I lived in Alabama or Oklahoma, but Massachusetts. I am glad that you got through a few times on Carrie's line. It makes up for the votes I couldn't give her. Having said that, I like Bo too. Just remember that coming in second can actually work to your advantage. Bo WILL be fine. Clive will make sure of that. Clive does not want look like a 79- year -old -man with alzheimers who predicted that Bo would take the whole thing and then lose so dramatically. Could anyone please tell me WHY they did not announce how close the vote was? My theory is that it was not as close as some people think. Does that mean Bo will not find success? I think Bo will be able to get whatever he wants to put into this. Just remember that Clay Aiken is a very determined, self-professed workaholic who also does a great deal of charity work. My only worry for Bo is that he seems so laid back. He has an enormous platform right now to make his dreams come true. I just hope that his laid back facade will take a back seat. I truly think that Bo entered this contest with no allusions of winning or making it into the grand finale. However, just before Ryan announced who the winner was, I saw Bo take a deep, anxious breath. It was the first time I really believed that he truly wanted to win. So Bo....listen to Clive Davis, but stay true to yourself also. Most important, work you butt off for the first year or two. I will be rooting for you!
OK, Fox News program "Fox and Friends" reportedly announced the vote totals: There were about 500 million votes cast -- just for the final. (OF course, many people voted numerous times.) Carrie won by 196 votes.
Both Carrie and Bo have singles that can be pre-ordered through Bunns and Noodle, um, Barnes and Noble. As of now, Bo's ("Inside Your Heaven" b/w "Vehicle") is #1 on the B&N hit parade (click "music," then "bestsellers"). BTW, Simon Cowell's Il Divo (operatic boy band) is at number two, the AI4 Showstoppers CD is number 10, and Carrie's single ("Inside Your Heaven" b/w "Independence Day") is at number 16.
Why, it's Ruben vs. Clay all over again.

The thing is why is everybody critizing Carrie just because she sung Country doesnt mean anything AI is not for any specific type of music and Bo would have gotten a recording deal win or lose so what is the big DEAL HERE!!!!

I don't even know why I am on this site. Carrie totally deserved to win. The winner should be a role model and sorry, someone who has gone to jail like Bo isn't a role model at all. Now there is proof that Idol isn't fake, Carrie has almost sold 3 million CDs, Bo isn't even close with not even 1 million! I think Bo is a nice person but he is too selfish with recording songs he didn't write! Carrie has the most ACM awards than any other female in country music this year, she is the fastest selling debut country artist in history, and her CD had been at #1 ever since it came out! What did Bo do? He doesn't even come close! Carrie is way better and she proofed it!
Carrie is a Grammy-Award-winning, multi-platinum-selling superstar with massive crossover appeal, and Bo's a has-been.
He's not even considered AI's best rocker, because Chris Daughtry takes that slot.
Hey, if anything, this then already laughable rant, now has become pure gold comedy!

Well, I can't let the two previous posters have the last word; so here goes. By the way, Bo is very happy with his own indepedent label Sugar/money. His new cd "See the Light" is very good and he is touring with his new band. His 1st cd almost went platimun at 880,000. He is finally healthy after three surgeries. The man is happy and considers himself blessed with family, fans, and his health. What more could you want in life. He has said "I get to make a living doing what I love to do!" How many of us can say that? It has long been obvious that AI is just a glorified "reality" show with the results predetermined by the producers and the TPTB. Profits are the bottom line and "the most talented" has very little to do with winning. What's hot in music is the most important consideration. Carrie was the "country star" they needed to break into that market. She has done very well for AI and herself. Daughtery has done well for AI as the "Nickel Back" clone and has been very profitable. It's fine to want to make a profit and produce the show that way. Just don't tell the public we have a "say" in choosing the winner. Look at what happened to Michael Johns this year. According to web sites that track the voting, he wasn't even in the bottom three the night he left. Gee, was it obvious that another" Daughtry-esk" contestant would be profitable?
So, where is Taylor, Miss Sparks, Ms.Barino, Mr. Studdard an Bo bice today. They are making a living doing what they love to do, make music. So maybe AI isn't all bad. These guys would never have had their 15 min w/o AI. Bottom line, it's just television and sometimes we ge introduced to some talented people. That's all it is folks.
