Great job with the recaps this year. The Phil Lukett reference was excellent!
If there was only 12 minutes of good content last night minus all the commercials, what are they going to do tonight with the 2 hour finale?
always remember what the t-shirt says: they aren't hotflashes, they're power surges. Or whatever.
you said:
The main things I don't care to see: recaps of auditions (as if we haven't already seen enough of those!), shopping trips, Vonzell delivering mail, Carrie milking her cow, &, oh yeah, Scott Savol!
Amen!
You know you (as a producer) have a goldmine going when even when people don't want to watch, they do. For TWO hours! lol
Thanks for your kind comments. Glad you enjoyed a reminder of the Phil Luckett incident---gads, it blew me away when I went to get a link for that and realized that football gem happened in 1998! NO WAY!
I must have heard about it from my great-grandfather.
Anyway, it's been quite a season on AI. Now what do we do until football season starts? lol Watch Iron Chef, I guess.
Wow. Lots of opinions posted here. Where do I start?
Of course, I start with Sticker.
Ditto, Mr Sticker! I totally agree except for one thing- I liked Carrie's rendition of "angels brought me here." I thought she did really well. I felt for her especially at the end of the song when the very repetitive words once more made her repeat, "angels brought me here". She was definitely having a moment. Am I hallucinating or did she point downward to the stage on that part to indicate that she had indeed been brought to that place by angels? That is most definitely the truth. How else can you explain a country girl getting to that point, on that stage, in front of the world? I'm sorry, but wow. I liked seeing that moment become truly clear to her. I really enjoyed that, I guess, because I can identify with her. I thought the tears were great and one of the best heartfelt moments we have seen on the show this season.(by the way, I would have liked to see her sing "Alone" again.)
I DEFINITELY agree with several others also. The songs SUCKED! And those 2 kids were obviously nervous. Carrie was literally shaking and as Simon pointed out, even Bo showed his nerves last night. I did not feel 100% great about any of the 3 songs they each sang.
I don't think that its that important whether these people have a "past" or not. I think their talent is the #1 important thing in this competition, or should be, at least. Don't get me wrong, the fact that Scott had been accused of beating up his girlfriend was another reason why I didn't like him, but I don't feel it is the reason he lost the competition. He lost because he wasn't as talented as the rest of the group. Especially as talented as Carrie and Bo. To put his name anywhere near theirs is like blasphemy!! :) (I know I'm dramatic!)
I wish everyone would just give Carrie a break! She is so talented, musically! She just needs some stage training. Once she finds her comfort-zone and how to "handle" herself, she'll do fine. In my opinion, Kelly Clarkson is just now "finding herself", after 3 years!!
I think this AI is the best that I've seen. I'll admit that I didnt watch the first one very closely but the other 2 that followed DID NOT have the talent that this show has had. Are people forgetting about Nadia and Constantine? Think of the showmanship!! Think of the diversity! This was a great group of talent!
Anyway, I'll say it again, I won't be sad tonight, whatever happens. Either way, these 2 are great and I can't wait to see what their futures hold!
This gives nothing away, but just in case some meaning has slipped in despite my best efforts, you may want to avoid it until after you see the results.

From the start of the contest until its end, I was never moved by Carrie at all. She has a pleasant voice, but she always struck me as chilly and wooden, even last night and tonight. She could be crowned World Idol or Planet Idol and I would not buy anything by her. Nothing personal against her, but Carrie's music isn't my thing. Will it be America's? Remains to be seen. In any event, both will have good careers. And I am so happy about what lies for Bo; I suspect he will have an awesome run.
Bo is bo and thats what i love. He's been VERY successful over the last year, and he's still good ol "Bo". I hate to "bash" in any sort, but Carrie isn't the country, fun loving, girl from Idol anymore. She's letting things go to her head. Many reporters have reported she was "snobby". In any case, they will both be around, they are both super stars. They are both in the magazines and on a few covers each. They got it made, their futures are in the bag. The country group is being very nice to Carrie (maybe too nice?) but the pop, rock AND country are being nice to Bo. So really, is he the REAL winner? He is the REAL thing. Bo's video has landed the #1 spot on TRL and on VH1's Top 20. He is now in 2nd place (behind the Dixie Chicks) for the most weeks spent at #1 on VH1. CMT has aired a nice little segment on him-- and I've seen them play The Real Thing every now and then. As I said, they will both be around for years to come. But, in the end, who is going to be the one jamming on his guitar? The world is in Bo's hand, he just needs to learn what hand to put it in.

I agree that this season was much more competitive than last year and that's a major reason to watch AI.
It's been a close race and will probably be a photo finish as well.

Maybe I didn't convey it very well, but I, too, was moved by how emotional Carrie got singing "Angels."
I do think we can all respect the challenges and drama of the journey she and the other finalists have been on.
I think that's one of the reasons AI clicks with so many people: for at least some of the contestants, incredible dreams come true.
All of Carrie's "deficiencies" are totally correctable. She needs some coaching and some experience and she will have a great career.
As will Bo.
I don't think you can ask for more than that out of a singing competition/reality show!
