American Idol--Anthony Sent Packing

The highlight of the show tonight was seeing Bo's original audition, which I can't believe hasn't been shown before. Bo rocked out, and then told the judges that the show needed some rock, blues and soul, and he was the one to do it. All 4 of the contestants original auditions were shown. It was interesting to see how little Carrie has progressed in terms of her stage presence. She is a cold, boring chick with a nice country voice. That's it. Anthony, on the other hand, had a soulful style in his audition, but was really rigid throughout the competition.

Vonzell's dad was sufficiently displaying his pimp hand again tonight with a snazzy suit and top hat. Total class act.

Going home tonight was no embarrassment for Mr. Fedorov, who had a lot of trouble singing his song at the end of the show. Who can blame him? They shouldn't even make the just booted Idol have to sing one last time. Anthony clearly couldn't do it. Being that Anthony is a local guy here in Philly, it was bittersweet to say goodbye. Did anyone notice Carrie's passionate, tearful "I love you!" to Anthony as he sang at the end? It was on the video screen behind him. It didn't look like a friendly "I love you", but a "What a wonderful time we had last night in your room. It sucks that you're leaving. I love you!" Sparks flying? Hmm.

Props also to Carrie for wearing what looked like a wife-beater with a teddy bear on the front. She struck a very sexy good girl/bad girl dichotomy tonight. Nice!

Next week, we must say goodbye to Vonzell Solomon so we can witness the finale between Carrie's sweet girl persona, and Bo's druggie rock star thing. My money is on Bo.

why do people think it is socially unacceptable to do something anonymous like a phone call?

Ha ha Steve S., but you get the point. We are talking about the voting here. Here in the USA, you are frowned upon to cheer for a white person over a black person, EVEN IF the white person is much better than the black person.

That's why Vonzell should not be allowed to reach the finals, and we must stop her. If she reaches the finals, she could intentionally botch every song and STILL win easily over Bo or Carrie. That is my beef, and thus Vonzell has to go.

So you don't want to vote for her to make a political statement. That's your choice, but I'm going to vote for her or Bo because I like their singing. Imagine the concept.

I don't know what state/city you live in (and don't need to know), but I've never encountered frowning for cheering a good performance. And even if I did, who the hell cares if someone frowns at me? Do I vote to please them or to please me?

Vote for Bo or Carrie for their singing abilities, not because you want to make a political statement against talented African Americans.

oh, and Vonzell cried because of something regarding her dad, not to get sympathy. It was Paula who first asked 'are you alright', which prompted her to cry. Paula knew beforehand that something was wrong, that was obvious, and even Simon alluded to something that was going on, I think to do with her dad. People already knew she was likely to cry before she actually did. That is not a sympathy cry.

"That is not a sympathy cry."

You are so naive Steve, you Vonzell fan.

You know what they say, Love is blind.

Vonzell was so AWFUL with that country song, she concocted this crying thing to get votes WHEN SHE DIDN'T DESERVE IT.

Regardless, the point is: everyone NEEDS to stop Vonzell from getting to the finals, because she will win even if she mails in her performance. We MUST not let her get to the finals.

No. The Point is that YOU need to stop Vonzell. The rest of us have our own minds and will decide how we vote accordingly. My vote will be for Bo because he is, IMO, the best of the bunch, but I can appreciate the talents of Vonzell, Carrie, and Anthony too. After the vote is over, I will send up some prayers for you, because, Mr. Newton, you obviously have some SERIOUS issues.

my thoughts exactly - I like all of the final 3 very much, although Bo is my fave

just for clarification, my comment 1 was actually comment 2 and responding to comment 1. Comment 1 was removed (because it was pretty stupid, xenophobic and racist) and so that is why my comment refers to a phone call, which people may not understand.

Steve--to answer your original question, I think that the notion of actually voting is just too much for some, including myself, to handle. Its not that its socially unacceptable, but rather that it would be tantamount to caving in fully to the guilty pleasure that is AI. I just can't go the Full Monty with the show.

Matt, what I was referring to when I said socially unacceptable was the original comment 1 which was deleted. That comment said that it is socially unacceptable to vote for a white person. That gets frowned on and you are socially obligated to vote for the African American.

I'm sure you got the original comment via email. In addition to thinking that comment was just silly and racist, I was wondering how something would be socially unacceptable if it was done anonymously like voting via phone anyway.

if voting for whites over blacks is so frowned upon, how come nikko, anwar and nadia were out early? can't believe how racist some people still are.

Whoever said TylerNewton has issues, is right on the money...I think Bo will win also, but this guy serious has some anti-black thing going...Its a good thing most intelligent folk will ignore such a racist jackass.
