Well kiddies, the time has come once again to announce the line-up from budget label Alpha Video, and this selection of economically affordable and new-to-DVD rarities kicks off with Children Of The Wild, a wilderness adventure from 1938 featuring a canine lead (Silver Wolf) that was comprised from fresh footage as well as stock footage. Originally released as Topa Topa, Children Of The Wild features James Bush and LeRoy Mason as the human stars.
Next up is Trilby, a silent adaptation of the immortal Svengali tale directed by French great Maurice Tourneur and released in 1915. A forgotten actor by the name of Wilton Lackaye stars as the mad hypnotists, with Clara Kimball Young as the 
titular victim.
Another lost title, Rogue Of The Rio Grande (1930) starring José Bohr, Myrna Loy, and Raymond Hatton, will be of note to serial fans as it was directed by Spencer Bennet, the man who helmed many classic cliffhangers from the '20s to the '50s.
Another perennial favorite with Alpha Video releases is the inclusion of classic shows from the Golden Age of Television — and March’s roster added another DVD volume to beloved series such as The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet, Annie Oakley, The Milton Berle TV Show, Racket Squad, Roy Rogers With Dale Evans, as well as Hawkeye And The Last Of The Mohicans — the latter of which features John Hart and Lon Chaney, Jr. and had many an episode directed by B-movie maestro Sam Newfield. Another new vintage TV on DVD title is The Man Behind The Badge.
More adventure and crime drama fun awaits viewers with 1959’s Island of Lost Women, featuring Alan Napier (from the '60s TV classic Batman); Motive For Revenge from 1935; Sing Sinner Sing; and Ticket To A Crime -- but of course, no program of new releases from Alpha would be complete without the proverbial B-Western entry — and this time, we’re treated to six new goodies: Mystery Ranch with Captain Marvel himself, Tom Tyler; The Apache Kid’s Escape starring Jack Perrin; Adventures Of Texas Jack, which should also be of interest to serial fans as it was originally supposed to be one; two Roy Rogers vehicles (Saga of Death Valley and The Ranger And The Lady — both Gabby Hayes, naturally); and Texas Marshal starring Tim McCoy.
These titles were just released Tuesday, March 31, 2009 and are available now in numerous retail stores across the country and online at Alpha’s website, Oldies.com. Happy viewing!
