A Current Affair's BIG Adventure - "Tracking Manitoba's Bigfoot" - Comments Page 14

Author: AnniePublished: May 06, 2005 at 7:50 pm 697 comments

So, the long awaited "Bobby Clarke Bigfoot Video" was finally aired on May 4th, and as expected, A Current Affair's flair for carnival like reporting, made a mockery of it

Adding insult to injury, the host of A Current Affair announced that they would be sending a team of trackers made up of members of the scientific, zoological, and journalistic communities to Norway House, Manitoba in search of Bigfoot.

"After ‘A Current Affair’ unleashed videotape across America of the latest sighting of the infamous Bigfoot, the scientific, zoological and journalistic communities have united in the excitement of discovery — and now in an expedition to confirm the existence of this entity." ACA

The ACA promo clip for the expedition introduces the assembled team members.

 - Dr. Franklin Ruehl, host of Mysteries From Beyond The Other Dominion leads the team.

Donning a pith helmet, and what appears to be a winter coat, (in studio in California) Dr. Ruehl admits there`ll be dangers...

"the flight is about  500 miles, and eh, I don`t know if it`ll be a bi-plane, or...we`re ah, we`re gonna have to say our prayers going up there.". He continues, "When we start hiking up there, it could be snowing, we could run into a blizzard, perhaps other creatures are up there, a wild moose..." ( Wild Moose, not the domesticated variety. )

- Cherie Currie, legendary rock and roll singer, and chain saw artist.

"This modern day Fay Rae, is determined to be the bigfoot bait. A beauty brave enough to lure the beast from it`s hiding place."  - ACA

"Let`s rock and roll" says Cherie,"It`s probably as big as this rock!"  ( enough said )

- Brett Hudson, A Current Affair producer "who managed to track down the Bigfoot video, and bring it to the world" - ACA  ( If he can track down an obscure video, with nothing more than international news reports to go by, he can damn well track down Bigfoot, I`d say! )

And there we have it, folks, the representatives of  the scientific, zoological and journalistic communities who have united in this expedition to confirm the existence of the illusive Sasquatch.

Now, to set the record straight, I have been told that neither the Clarke family, nor Matt Moneymaker of the BFRO knew anything about this "excursion". Nor was Moneymaker`s expertise called upon to aid this merry band of Bigfoot hunters. Apparently, Moneymaker, director of The Bigfoot Field Research Organization, hadn`t the artistic chain saw abilities needed for an expedition of this magnitude.

Sharness Henry, Bobby Clarke`s sister, told me that she had no idea "they`d (A Current Affair) make it so Cheesy. Some other show could have done better".

"The BFRO is not involved in their Manitoba "expedition", nor was the trip planned at all. The New Jersey office for Current Affair told the unit producer that he would be leading the "expedition" only a half hour before the announcement was made on the program ... Then he had only a few more hours to catch a plane." He continues, "The unit producer, Brett Hudson, is currently headed up to Norway House to meet with a 3-man video crew from New Jersey. So it's a four man "expedition" with no preparation or expert assistance."  Matt Moneymaker,  BFRO website,

Perhaps due to Moneymakers statement, the team`s representative from the "scientific community", Dr.Ruehl, has now indeed joined the team in Norway House. Although the ACA promo clip showed images of the team bushwhacking their way through the wilds of Northern Manitoba, the good Dr. was spotted chatting up the staff at the local KFC...Purchasing Bigfoot bait no doubt.

Okay, let`s get serious. I don`t believe Clarke had any idea of the style of show he was handing his footage over to. A Current Affair isn`t broadcast in Canada. I do know that although others such as CNN, CBC TV, and MSN made inquiries, the only one to actually send a representative to Norway House, was A Current Affair.

In my opinion, this sighting is credible enough to warrant serious study. Note I said "sighting". Yes the video was the most intriguing aspect to Clarke`s claim, but it should have been classified as supporting evidence of the sighting, rather than the other way around.

For instance, Sharness Henry has stated that some local hunters did cross the river to look for any physical evidence, but footprints were highly unlikely...The tree line rests at the water`s edge. The depth of the water where it meets land is 4 feet... 4 FEET. In order for someone to retrace the steps of the figure Clarke taped, they would have to be tall enough to wade through 4 feet of water without their thighs being completely submerged. Although extremely blurry, there are glimpses of the figures stride, and arms swinging. Neither it`s lower arms, or upper thighs appear to be submerged.

Could this have been a hoaxer, say on stilts of some kind? Highly doubtful. Besides having to avoid tripping over the usual debris on river and lake beds, especially where the tree line is so close, there would be the problem of sinking in the silt, and maintaining muscle control after being submerged in icy water for more than 3 minutes. There`s also the drag that 4 feet of frigid water would have on the hoaxer`s gait. This is just one element of the sighting which should be investigated, and reported.

As for our brave team of adventurers who at this very moment may be fending off wild moose, blizzards, and line-ups at KFC....May the force be with you!

Seems all the posts in disagreement with Annie are now erased from history.
    Spineless- but predictable.
I don't recall any violent posts...you and Annie should chip in and buy yourselves a big bottle of Prozac Nancy.
Sorry to all those who have been banned due to my contributions to sending Annie over the edge.

Janelle, I've seen your posts on other threads. You display the mind, mouth, & personality of a viper, a low degree of intellect & education, and the maturity of a 2-yr-old. You also don't read very well. As far as I'm concerned, your posts on any thread will be ignored from now on, spew what you will.

To be “rapped” to the tune of Eminem’s “Without Me”:

    “Guess who's back, back again
    Goody's back, tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back,
guess who's back, guess who's back,
guess who's back, guess who's back,
    guess who's back...

I've created a monster, cuz nobody wants to
See “Son of” no more they want Goody...”

    Hello again, children.

I’ve read, I’ve laughed. I’ve meditated. I've waited for someone to pickup the mantle.

Thank you, Son of, though you’re not one of my four.

What do you think, Blobby, is he in an iron lung or one of those wheelchair devices? In any case, if he could only type in caps, how did he make the commas?

Must be observant, kids, we're soggybloggycritwits here!.

In anylywennily case, I wouldn’t deign to gift you with my presence if not for the fact that I have received information that A Current Affair’s lab results of the Norway House Bigfoot hair analyhsis is in.

    And the results are ASTOUNDING!

    HISTORIC!

    STRANGE!

Now if you all say pretty please and praise to A Current Affair, I will happily drop them here first.

So you can be the first.
And this entire mystery will be, for once, settled.

And Sharness, I think “The Whoreway House Shashsquatch” wasa poorly spelled takeoff on Norway House Sasquatch, or Bigfoot.

Blobby was referring to your reserve as “Whoreway House” rather than “Norway House.”

“Now this looks a job for me
    So everybody just follow me
Cuz we need a little controversy,
Cuz it feels so empty without me

I said this looks like a job for me
    So everybody just follow me
Cuz we need a little controversy,
Cuz it feels so empty with-out A Current Affair... and ME!”

Welcome back Goodstory! The place just hasn`t been the same without you!

So the results are in!? Finally! Needless to say, we`re all anxious to see them.

Thanks very much for the info Nancy, and Son of, I really do appreciate all the help, and advice. Nancy, please feel free to step on my toes any time! I`m no expert, and can use all the help I can get.:)

I`ve been told of another recent sighting by a young man...Although it was at a distance, he said it didn`t look very hairy on the shoulders, or from the knees down. Has anyone ever heard of another description like this?

Well, I'm back from the high Sierras of California. My brother-in-law and I took a dirt fire road far away from civilation. Unfortunately it was an area that had been burned in a fire 15-20 years ago so there weren't many trees and the Manzanita had taken over.

It was so thick I can't see how anything of any size could get through it. We decided that this was the wrong place to be looking for Sasquatch so we drove back to the highway and continued up Highway 4.

We ended up at California Big Trees state park. We drove to the far end of the park, got out and continued into the adjacent forest about a half-mile. I didn't find anything here either, but we both had a weird "hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck-raised" feeling of being watched, so who knows?

Anyway, that was about it. Not much else to report. I wish I had more. Maybe another time.

Annie, lots of encounters describe the BF in question as being 'mangy', 'sparse hair', 'bald in patches', etc. while one specimen encountered crossing a road in a very businesslike manner was groomed to the nth, its hair silky, clean, shining, and perfectly "combed", in the words of the witness. Must have been going to a job interview...or a wedding.

  • 641 - Sharness Henry

    Jul 01, 2005 at 11:16 pm

OKAY! There is a professor from the University of Manitoba that has analyzed the hair and found it of a unknown speices. :S << but so they havent found any other species that could match this. They've tested against other animals mammals hair whatever and none come close in th This professor calls it Hybrid. Half human half animal. And right this second they are doing a documentary about this whole thing (this time a serious one) and going to be presented at our annual York Boat Days here in Norway House.(maybe not presented but i know for sure it'll be done by then) York Boat days in when we have bunch of games and festivities that go on, contests and especially York boat races that are quite beautiful. knock yourselves out. p.s. i do not know the name of this professor. Ill have some more details later

  • 642 - rich

    Jul 02, 2005 at 12:43 pm

Maybe they should analyze this pic. Check Official Comment Policy Post 116. It appears to be one BF and a pack of wolves hunting together. There is one possibly two black wolves on the right side, a head and legs of one can be seen. It appears there are two wolves on the left in the pic, a yellow wolf in the bush that can be seen over the moose’s back and a white wolf whose snout can be seen. There appears to be palm and fingers on the bush near the face. The left arm appears to be holding a model (close as could be determined an ashtray? figurine of a horse?) The figurine is being used to lure the moose into the bush. This figurine is in front of the black wolf.

    Rich,

I can't see a bigfoot or any wolves in that shot, but if you zoom in really tight (1600x) around 647x746, you can see Waldo.

  • 646 - Nancy

    Jul 05, 2005 at 10:02 am

A moose? WHY would a moose be 'lured' by an ashtray, regardless of what it is supposed to represent? What picture is this, anyway?

    Whatever...

No, Wack, these were definitely BF sighting reports, over several decades and the entire N. American continent, just about. Very scattered in time & place. I'll try to find that one report of the extremely natty BF I mentioned above. I got the impression from the post when I read it that he practically was sporting a boutonnier, lol. I didn't check to see if there might have been a town name of "London" nearby, but don't believe so.

Seriously, all my BF readings indicate that there may be a shedding season - quite a few of these 'mangy' sightings seem to cluster around early spring - altho the rest of them (the majority) don't fall into any kind of pattern and seem to be a function of the individual's health & possibly 'social' contacts - i.e. having someone to mutually groom the hard to reach places.

Not at all surprised w/the test results of the hair; same results from earlier testing in B.C. (reported by John Good): not human, but not any known animal, either.

I AM rather surprised that, considering all the artillary shot off at these critters over the years, no one has ever gotten any kind of blood evidence, skin, bone, etc. There's one report by the marines down in NC of the patrol that ran into 3 BFs practically shooting off an arsenal at them. All 3 apparently got away. The lt.'s terse report stated that 'x # of rounds were fired, however we found no blood or other traces of targets.' When questioned, he said, "I didn't say we didn't hit them, I said we didn't find anything afterwards." Mind you, they fired off enough rounds to completely mow down several small trees & bushes for some distance into the woods. You'd think SOMETHING would be there as evidence!?

I'm still surprised the BFRO is holding aloof from this. Surely this is not only puerile but counter-productive of science as well as their cause, to be sulking because they weren't allowed to 'lead' the investigation? Talk about cutting off everyone's noses (including their own) to spite - who? - ACA? - someone elses' faces.

Ms. Henry, did you ever get any noises w/that recorder?

And Goodstory, I DID beg & praised ACA, now it's your turn: cough it up, you promised you would. What's the big news on your part?

there have been sightings ,but not like now thats for sure.its something that isnt talked about if someone does experience this . particularly the elders.i`d say the most sightings that occurred between the 70`s and early 80`s. but it kinda died down to far off places like hunting grounds and of course the ferry crossing.it seems so wierd to have the howls heard if your standing in your own backyard.and so frequently too.its got to be the freakiest and scariest sound you can hear for yourself.there is no one to go and check it out.no one wants to try.ive called the local indian band police one night when it was really loud and close by here,i could actually hear branches breaking, but i got no response from them i dont think they even wanted to come and check it out for themselves.theres been alot of logging going on maybe there are being driven out or flooded out who knows?

All praise to A Current Affair.

Have you watched lately? I recently came upon this lovely post on the TVsquad blogsite:

My affair with A Current Affair
Posted Jun 27, 2005, 7:45 PM ET by Adam Finley
    Filed under: News
"I recently praised the PBS news series Frontline as being one of my favorite news programs, so it may surprise you to know that one of my other favorite news programs is A Current Affair, recently resurrected after being off the air for nine years. I know A Current Affair is, in many ways, the exact opposite of a show like Frontline, but I admire how it uses Hunter S. Thompson's gonzo approach in a gleeful, tongue-in-cheek way. Segments involving missing kittens are laden with just as much fanfare and melodrama as stories about murder and corruption, and host Tim Green can switch from angry to empathetic to mildly amused with the commanding performance of a natural thespian, as opposed to a news anchor trying to force some semblance of personal feeling into the story. It's a show that makes fun of tabloid TV while being a tabloid show itself. Once you're in on the joke, it makes for great television."

If you all behave and perhaps if one of us writes his or her own reaction to an ACTUAL VIEWING of this program (in whose employ I am NOT), I will post the results next week.

Today, my attention is on my dear friends in London.

well frank devoka, I am sorry you could not comprehend the questions that I pointed out earlier in this post. Question # 1 - w oul d you giv e a percentage or sell it outright 80% to the leadership of norway house if you shot a videotape of sasquatch? Be honest now, for myself as well as almost everyone out there, the answer is no. We have to look after our own families first then when everything has settled down then i am sure the community will benefit later but with bobby, this is the opposite, they are struggling with bills and they have a large family, a truck that is breaking down(they could not even go to the red river exhibition in winnipeg last month and yet they only received 20% of their video? how the hell did this happen fred...i mean frank? did bobby get a personal friend or a EDUCATED family member(S) from his side to sit with him and langford to go over what bobby wanted not what langford wanted? If bobby recieved 2,000.00 from current affair as you stated from the 20,000.00, I assume this is US DOLLARS RIGHT? if so bobby should have got more then 2 grand.
WHere did the other 18,000.00 or more go? did it go towards langfords one week trip to las vegas? well frank since you know a lot of more than us out here please tell us, did langford not say that they were going to go partnership with bobby regarding this tape, well everything will eventually come after the next election when three or four of the council will not get in again because of several issues in norway house, why do you think we do not have any doctors in norway house? amoung other issues well frank I do not care if you respond just show this to your bosses

    My apologies for the delay.

    London was calling.

In any case, here are the unbelieveable results of the forensic examination of five (5) hair samples from the Brave Manitoba Three's expedition to Norway House.

It appears that the Bigfoot creature may be related to New Jersey's Swamp Thing similar cryptozoological being.

Following are highlights from the report from

    --------------------

The Forensic Analytical Laboratory in Hayward California:

    Evidence Submitted

The following evidence was received by Don Hauff of Forensic Analytical in Hayward, California on June 2, 2005 via Federal Express from A Current Affair.

    Lab Evidence #
    1-1

    Agency Evidence #
    Not indicated

    Description of Evidence
    (1) plastic baggie containing (5) possible hairs

    Examination Requests

Examine (5) apparent hairs to determine if animal or human. If animal hair, determine the taxonomical classification of the animal donating the hairs.

    Examination Results and Conclusions

A microscopic exam revealed that the (5) apparent hairs are not animal or human hairs.

    From notes:

    Microscopial exam

    (evidence) A-E

appear(s) to be some type of plant or wood fiber, not animal or human hair.

    -------------------------

    There you have it.

Welcome back, goodstory - we truly missed you.

Are you saying that if the hair are not animal or human, they are ....alien???

Wouldn't a bigfoot type homonid have high degree of genetic similarity with humans?

  • 666 - blobby

    Jul 23, 2005 at 12:39 am

Good to see you back in the saddle goodstory.
There were tons of bloggers and others at well known sites: ATS, bigfoot forums and such waiting for your return of the results.
I agree with Aaman's comment on hominidal characterists matching human's.
But maybe these samples degraded over time to prevent conclusive anonimity, thus too late for lab dna test. or is it?

    1. why is this similar to the New Jersey mystery in the mucky wetlands.

    2. is it possible for you to get lab dna results.

    3. can we see pictures and lab papers comfirming this test posted somewhere.

p.s. i'll give a thumbs up(hail) to ACA and kudos to gs mostly!

    Jul 25, 2005 at 12:42 pm

Plant, or wood fiber...A lot of possibilities had crossed my mind, but neither of those entered the picture!

I guess the DNA analysis was canceled after the microscopic exam. Goodstory,
will ACA be reporting the findings on the show?

Now what about the feces sample, and the bone remains from the "feeding site"? Were they tested? Did the ACA bring back samples of the bones, or just report them? More than the hair, I was hoping the bones would be tested for saliva.

I'd like to know if the samples given to ACA were from the same group given to the University of Manitoba, as Sharness told us about...Their results were quite different.

The samples I have are half white and half black, and wavy, which are different from the all black hairs given to ACA. Unfortunately there are no roots on them, and they've been handled, so they're unsuitable for DNA analysis...I hadn't thought of microscopic testing! Perhaps that could at least rule out a known species of animal.

There's a professor with the University of Alberta who has offered to test hair samples from the recent Yukon sighting...I'll see if I can find a way to contact him.

I'd like to find out more about the test results Sharness told us about as well, but I don't know who sponsored the testing...It may have been the people filming a documentary up there. I'll contact them, and see if they know anything about it.

Activity in NH hasn't let up yet.

Do you know the REAL reasons why the big foot won't be ever be seriously studied? The answer is simple.
First, let's consider a few topics. In a nation where high tech is born every day, it's quite strange to believe that it's not possible to set a lot of zooming cameras remotely controlled in
the areas where the big foot is told to be seen. If the discovery of a new species is important to understand our own living past, then an important amout of effort should have been done already. There are even spontaneous scientists who offer themselves to the job. No costs. Simple photo cameras linked to sensors (movement sensors) can do the job. Better, digital cameras do not spend films. The set is easily built. With so many sighting maps, it's easy to spread those picture taking devices in the places the "monster" is usually seen. Even better, those cameras could send a pic by radio signal. Just like spatial telescopes do. So, one finds only hoaxes in the form of badly recorded films; badly taken pics; undefined shadows walking and so on. Not a single close. Not a single animal of that type has been shot by a gun or a camera in centuries of tale. Better, fairy tale. And the answer for that lack of interest is quite simple. Another issue before I answer the puzzle: if a real animal do exists, why clusters of them have not been identified already?
With so many helicopters and monoplans flights, it's easy to identify one or another walking here and there.Even because there MUST be lots of them living. NOT just a few ones. They must not be endangered - otherwise,
how could people still continue to see them? There must be lots of them because they are said to be alive, yet. There must be males and females.
Ok, you may say: "Oh, they're nocturnal animals, which makes things a little bit more difficult". Ok, but what about infrared cameras to work with? I mean, not even a single man has to be put to work (what if they are REAL and DANGEROUS?), only hanging cameras at high posts. Telemetrically driven cameras, with infrared sensors that send a signal and thus alert a remotely placed watchman.
To be short, you must know the answer by now. The answer is simple: the animal is a myth. A fairy tale.
So, my dear friend, these are a few reasons why the animal has not been driven the possible and necessary attention. With high tech available, it's hard to believe - at last to me - that this issue remains unsolved in this century. A myth has to live. Let's face it. Good bye.

Does anyone think that this is a hoax?? cause speak out now. My brother Bobby didnt record this creature because he wanted money. I dont see him drivin around in a big kick ass vehicle or a brand new house. All he needs is one answer - what is it?? i believe what he wanted to record that there was something out there and he wasnt hearing noises at night for nothing. Like people DID HEAR unusual stuff happening and SAW things. DOnt call me crazy.....

I thought the tape was a bit hard to see if it was really a bigfoot at the scane. But, if I was the guy I would be tring to get a closer shot of the creature to really show the world that it was the true bigfoot, and not the fake imaged ones.
