8 Mile Extra

I have learned to dumb down my expectations for bonus DVD stuff. But, 8 Mile has a genius bonus item.

Part of the driving force of the plot are the various rap "battles" that take place between the characters. These are 45 second chances to hurl as much invective as you can at your opponent in the most creative way possible.

They needed some extra footage and decided to hold an open audition. It does not get any better than watching Curtis Hanson, the director, and possibly the whitest man alive, host these things. It is hard to describe. Even if you have no desire to watch the movie it is worth the $3.50 to watch this, especially when he explains the rules.
