Happy for Hugh Laurie (House) but felt Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) and the House show should also have gotten the nod.

This will be the last opportunity the Emmy voters have to give this long overdue and so well deserved Emmy to Hugh Laurie. Yes, it's just my opinion but I think this will be the final season for House.
Hugh Laurie has created one of the most beloved and iconic characters in Television History. It's about time those Emmy Voters open their eyes and see what all the rest of us have for so long and redeem themselves in the eyes of the fans.
Best of Luck and Huge, House Congratulations to the fabulous Mr. Laurie.

Housecall, I think it will be this year and next. To deny Hugh an Emmy award after what he has created in this complex character is just insane. He makes it look very easy, but we know it is not easy at all.
He took what looks on paper to be simply misanthropic, drug-addicted genius doctor and made us all love him. Not "love to hate him," but love him, sympathize with him and cheer for him. All that with an accent done to perfection, a limp and ridiculously rapid-fire dialog replete with multi-syllabic medical terminology. In addition to all that, he paved the way for an entire series of knock-off characters over the seasons subsequent to the House premiere intended to duplicate with very little success.
It's about fracking time, Emmy voters! Give this man his due!

Looks like a good crop of nominees, especially Friday Night Lights finally being nominated for best drama -- after it moved off-network.
But doesn't the fact that one show can rack up 19 or 21 nominations suggest that there just might possibly be an excessive number of categories? Just sayin'.

handyguy--I also think there needs to be a distinction between those, largely cable, series that only run for 8-13 episodes and conventional series that run 22-24 eps per year. Or cable vs. network. Or something. Because I believe they're often comparing apples and oranges.

Yes, putting Game of Thrones and The Good Wife in the same category is odd. They're both first-rate entertainment, but otherwise on different planets.

I am so happy that Hugh Laurie got a nomination this year!! I really don't understand what this man has to do to win that Emmy!!!! The amount of dialog and medical terminology that he must memorize and deliver is unbelievable. Not to mention walking with a limp and covering that beautiful British accent!!!!! The amount of work he does is far greater than any of those cable shows!!!! Why are they in the same category?!?! This is Mr. Lauries year!!!!!

I hope that he finally wins!

Immense, tremendous and so talented actor!!!
This will be your winner year!
And as #3 Barbara said so well on her post:
"....He makes it look very easy, but we know it is not easy at all.

So...fingers crossed!!!
