Easy like Sunday morning...

Verse Chorus Verse: Pearl Jam – Backspacer

Every once in awhile it's good to break with tradition.  I guess we're going to get some of that out of the way twice in one week.  We had the glorious occasion of my birthday this week in which we didn't focus on one song but instead had a fun little countdown of sorts (check it out and drop some comments since you got me nothing for my birthday).

Today we're going to take the occasion to talk about how cool it is to have something to look forward to on a Sunday in addition to football.  Pearl Jam decided to break the mold with their new album Backspacer.  They don't have a label.  They don't have to play the same games as everyone else, so in addition to distributing a record according to their will they've decided to release the album not on a traditional Tuesday release date but instead on a Sunday.  Today.

I'm getting ready to put the CD in my player but before we get to Backspacer we get BONUS music.  With the purchase of your copy of Backspacer comes two free downloads.  That's not new.  Come on, Pearl Jam!  You can do better than that- oh, wait.  It's not two songs, it's two full-length concerts and you get your choice from roughly a dozen shows.

A couple of your downloading options are for 2008 shows and I bought that whole run, so I've gone for two 2006ers.  The first was their May 17 in Chicago.  The second was their June 3 show in E. Rutherford, N.J.  Considering Backspacer clocks in at 36 minutes, it's nice to have some additional music.  Of course, size isn't everything (or so other guys have been told).  This may be 36 glorious minutes of majestic rock and roll goodness.  I can't wait to find out.  Until then, new music on a Sunday and two free concert downloads have already improved my outlook on life considerably.
