George Oliphant heads to Vail this week to check out summer in the mountains and what a sweet, sweet thing it is. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival will feature the New York Philharmonic this summer and that means six weeks of open air concerts set amongst the gorgeous, green Rockies. If you can’t make it to Vail this summer, watch this video and preview all of the cool, Colorado action.
Vail’s gourmet restaurants love the summer crowd and Sweet Basil has been one of The Valley’s most popular restaurants since it opened in 1977 — but there’s nothing old or predictable about this brilliant Village favorite. Sweet Basil celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and it still remains the toast of the town. George Oliphant chats with Sweet Basil’s current chef, Paul Anders, to find out what’s new on the menu and what keeps the restaurant buzzing after all of these years. George also samples some Sweet Basil classic dishes like the Mediterranean mezze platter and saddles up to the bar to find out what cocktails keep locals and tourists coming back for more.
