U2 take over Late Night. U2 on Thursday will take over Conan O’Brien’s show and perform a few songs. It will mark the first time the program has been dedicated to one guest.

Franz Ferdinand afraid of spotlight on Glasgow music scene. The Scottish rock band fear that with their success too much attention will be paid to their local scene. With their sophomore CD just hitting stores, they are worried that Glasgow bands will get too much attention before they’ve had time to develop.

Microsoft patent denied. In a case raised by Open Source defenders, The U.S. Patents and Trade office threw out two Microsoft patents for its FAT file system. Microsoft has the opportunity to submit evidence at an examiner’s request. The patents were thrown out on administrative technicalities.

    sorry, can’t resist. I got so sick of every band being compared to U2 this spring. The Conan thing will be amazing, I have already set my DVR to record it.

    I’m not a huge fan of U2, but they’re probably the last of the great rock bands with enough stature to matter. I can’t think of anyone else that even comes close.

  • And while I liked the Franz Ferdinand record… those guys need to get over themselves. They are popular but I don’t think they are going to create a Scottish Invasion.
