Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, and Ted Danson are on-deck with their new FX show.

TV News: FX Gets Ready to Reveal Damages

As the loads and loads of promos have probably told you, FX is getting ready to launch another brand new drama this summer, Damages, starring Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, and Tate Donovan.  The show will follow in the footsteps of other FX launches of 2007, Dirt and The Riches

FX, as a network, has built its current image offering gritty, you-can’t-see-or-say-that-on-broadcast basic cable fare.  It’s a formula that has proven successful with shows like The Shield and Rescue Me, and the promos for Damages look equally intriguing.

Written by Glenn Kessler (Robbery Homicide Division), Todd A. Kessler (The Sopranos), and Daniel Zelman (Anacondas:  The Hunt for the Blood Orchid), the show focuses on the lives of some members of a law firm and the man on whom they have currently set their sites.  It clearly is not a black and white world, much more of a dark to medium gray one.

Close stars as high-power litigator Patty Hewes, the name partner at Hewes & Associates.  Ellen Parsons (Byrne) is the hand-picked-by-Hewes newly hired first-year Associate.  Though she is Hewes's protégé, Parsons is put on the team of Senior Associate Tom Shayes (Tate Donovan) for her training.  As for the trial in question, Hewes & Associates are out to bankrupt and hurt Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) who may have tanked his company, selling his stock in time to make a nice profit.  Frobisher was prosecuted by the government and found not guilty of any wrongdoing, but Hewes is going after him in a civil trial.

There is a murder, things get ugly, and goodness knows what will happen next.  Whatever it is, we do know that it will get a whole lot worse before it gets better.  Also, it is quite clear that cast is solid and the video clips below make it look pretty interesting.

Happily, we here at Blogcritics Magazine will have a review for you on it prior to the first episode which will air on July 24th.

Enough of my telling you about it, check out the clips below and chime in, does FX have another hit like The Shield on its hands, or are we looking at more Dirt?  Not only will time tell, we will too.
