A partial transcript of this week’s Treehouse Fort, which featured Rob and Kris from WalkoffWalk.com.

Suss: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said this week he would like to see the league extend its regular season to 17 or 18 games. He also has a plan on the table that will extend the Rams season to four games.

Suss: In an effort to increase awareness about the environment, the Philadelphia Phillies created an eco-friendly mascot, Phil The Can, a talking remote-controlled trash can wearing a Phillies helmet. When asked why they created this mascot, a spokesman said that John Kruk wasn’t available.

Tuffy: In other sports marketing news, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Brett Myers has been announced as the replacement spokesman for ShamWow.

Tuffy: Japan defeated Korea 5-3 in 10 innings in Los Angeles to take the World Baseball Classic title. Japan led 3-2 in the ninth when young phenom Yu Darvish allowed the tying run in the ninth. Apparently, “Yu Darvish” is Japanese for “Todd Jones”.

Suss: Looking to spruce up golf telecasts and boost ratings, the PGA will put microphones on caddies. Should the idea fail, the PGA will go to their backup idea: a talking trash can. Failing that, John Daly.

Suss: The Atlanta Hawks are experiencing a growing problem with fans being sold counterfeit tickets. The Hawks have advised fans to be on the lookout for any tickets that mention a Jon Koncak number retirement ceremony at halftime vs. the Sonics.

I think it’s great that the Phillies now have an eco-friendly mascot, a figure that will serve as a constant reminder to fans of the importance of saving the environment. We’ve brought an eco-certified line of sports balls to market that are certified Fair Trade. Footballs, basketballs, soccer balls and more are available, so stop by our blog at fairtradesports.com if you care to learn more. This is the first I’ve heard of Phil The Can, so thanks for the post!
