It’s popular to think of Australia as an exporter of hard rock bands like AC/DC and Wolfmother. However, it also boasts poppier rock like The Temper Trap and, more importantly, a growing electronica scene.

Midnight Juggernauts join The Presets and Cut Copy as part of indie music’s revival of 80s dance pop. The group consists of bassist/vocalist Andrew Szekeres, keyboardist/vocalist Vincent Vendetta, and drummer Daniel Stricker. The echoed British-sounding vocals and synthesizers give me new wave tingles. I can feel holes forming in my jeans already.
They’ve gained buzz steadily, touring around the world with bands like The Klaxons, Bloc Party and Arcade Fire. They’ve exchanged song remixes with The Presets and Cut Copy. Now they embark on a headlining tour of North America starting in the last half of November. Here are the dates we know of so far:

Check out, the video for “Lara vs. The Savage Pack” off their newest LP, The Crystal Axis. A nod to Peter Gabriel’s music clips from the ‘80s, it’s filmed completely with stop motion animation. The band floats around the screen thanks to thousands of sheets of paper getting flipped.
