Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is the third album by Franz Ferdinand, released on 26 January 2009. The follow up to 2005's You Could Have It So Much Better, it was preceded by the single "Ulysses" which was available a week before.

The elapsed time between releases was due to partly to the extracurricular activities of singer Alex Kapranos, who spent time producing Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, the third album by The Cribs, as well as playing guitar for Norwegian singer Annie, and writing a food column for British newspaper The Guardian.

It was also a result of abandoning their initial collaboration with Brian Higgins and the Xenomania production team, most famous for working with Girls Aloud. Eventually Dan Carey, who had previously worked with Hot Chip and Emiliana Torrini, was brought in to complete the project.

Speaking in the New Musical Express on it's release, Kapranos compared Tonight: Franz Ferdinand to an evening out in terms of composition and track sequencing, with "Ulysses" being "the sound of psyching up for it."
