Tiger Woods Gets Tanked at Met Gala After-Party

It was supposed to be their first time going out as a couple, so pro golfer Tiger Woods (37) and his significant other, skier Lindsay Vonn (28), dressed like royalty as they attended the Met Gala in New York City. They posed for pictures early in the night, and they seemed clear-eyed and genuinely happy to be a couple together in their debut in public.

Things changed dramatically when the handsome pair went to the after-party at the Boom Boom Room (I promise I’m not making this up) at the Standard Hotel. There our intrepid golf legend began drinking like a fish instead of a tiger, and apparently the cocktails hit him harder than any fire hydrant.

This time the undaunted Vonn clearly was not going to let her man become a victim of a slip and fall. After he stumbled on some stairs, she helped him up and guided him with a firm and dare I say loving hand. Vonn with steely-eyed precision led her man by the hand out of the party and to a waiting limousine.

Tiger looked a bit like a deer in the headlights as he prepared to get in the car. One can only imagine how the conversation went in the car on the ride home .

Tiger and Vonn’s union was a carefully but perhaps poorly kept secret after Vonn officially divorced her husband Thomas last year. Although Vonn and Tiger have both made it clear that they were friends first and that friendship developed into a romance, they have not been seen in public until this time.

Perhaps Tiger’s drinking was due to nerves as he and Vonn negotiated a party packed with famous faces and paparazzi; however, neither of them spoke to reporters during the night, no doubt to spare themselves from any questions regarding their former spouses.

Clearly this waltz down the red carpet didn’t go as planned, but Tiger has a way of bouncing back from controversy, and Vonn seems to be more than ready to deal with any baggage that the golf legend carries. Now that their debut is over, perhaps they will choose a less flashy venue for their second public outing and one where the drinks aren’t flowing. Can you imagine Tiger and Lindsay eating quietly at Panera Bread and then catching Iron Man 3?
