The gaming industry is getting a lot of love these days. And this week more conferences related to gaming have been announced. The cable TV channel G4 and Microsoft have just formed a powerhouse alliance to bring the world of gaming and marketing together. In their partnership they, along with Promax/BDA, will produce a new marketing conference called MI6.

The conference is currently slated for June 27 and 28, 2006, at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center, The W Hotel, with other locations to be announced in the future. Promax/BDA is a non-profit association dedicated to advancing the role and effectiveness of promotion, marketing and broadcast design professionals in the electronic media. This conference will address the needs of todays marketers in this new gaming space. Many marketers have been slow to catch on to in-game marketing. And the MI6 conference will help to bring awareness to the opportunities in the space. MI6 will also host an annual awards ceremony which will give praise to the best, brightest, and most creative in the interactive marketing space.

On the flip side of marketing, the Sex In Video Game Conference will seek to explore the world of erotic entertainment in the digital space. Now this conference should prove to be interesting as it tries to bring the gaming world and the erotic entertainment world together in one space as a networking event.

Will this lead to more “Hot Coffee” like games which got Rockstar into millions of dollars worth of trouble? Regina Lynn, the weekly Sex Drive columnist at Wired News will be one of the keynote speakers. The conference is slated for June 8-9 and will feature panels, workshops, and a sexy machinima art show.
