Take a look at this editorial on China Daily.

Can you believe that people actually believe this? Now, if you continue to read the rest of the articles on the site, something becomes strangely familiar. These are the same arguments and beliefs of Hollywood and some liberals in our country! So China has convinced its population that America went into Iraq for oil and to set up a puppet government—just what Hollywood tells us.

Apparently, an organization that hates America has been feeding its citizens the same information that Hollywood and liberals in this country have been trying to feed us. This is a fact. You can read it on their website.

Now, the whole point is this: if a country (government of that country, not necessarily the people, and in this case, China) hates our country, and says something about our country based on its communist philosophy, chances are that it may not be true. Now, if that government lies to its own people regularly, kills its own people and violates human rights while telling their people that they don’t, they become less credible. Then, people in our country start saying the same thing. One of the following is true:

1. The people in our country saying the same thing (which happen to be liberal) are getting their communist ideas from China (or other communist sources) and feeding it to us. Implies that many liberals are communist.

2. China is getting its communist ideas from us and feeding it to its people. Implies that China was not communist.

3. Both groups independently arrived at the same exact conclusion and are feeding the same exact information/disinformation to its people. Implies a near impossibility.

Well, we know that China is already communist, so that rules out number 2, and number 3 is a near impossibility, leaving the only solution to be that liberals are feeding communist ideas to us. Does it matter why China hates us? For the purposes of this article, no. I do not need to know why someone hates me to know that they really hate me, especially if that person says, “I hate you and hope you die a slow, painful and bloody death”. The point is that there is a group of Americans who hold to the same ideas as those who hate America, and every four years they try to get someone with the same ideas elected as President of the US, and sometimes they win, because “He is not the other guy.”

Your logic is so flawed that I don’t quite know where to start. Okay, here’s a good one

“and number 3 is a near impossibility, leaving the only solution to be that liberals are feeding communist ideas to us.”

LOL! What a riot! To quote your opening line “Can you believe that people actually believe this?”

And you think that it’s a “near impossibility” that some Americans and some Chinese (and Germans, and Brits, and French, and Spanish, etc…) believe that it’s possible that America went into Iraq for oil and to set up a puppet government? “And that both groups independently arrived at the same exact conclusion” Well, duh!

The article you link to is from last fall, is in English, and clearly states that “The above content represents views of the author only”. How is this from the Chinese government?

This is a shallow attempt to paint anyone who doesn’t follow the Shrub in lockstep as a communist and traitor to America, and I resent that. I am neither a communist, a traitor, nor do I hate America.

I am like half of America, I didn’t vote for gwb, don’t like the direction he’s taking my country, and have deep suspicions about the real reasons he decided to invade Iraq.

    Frankly, this piece is garbage.

Well, the Red Chinese do tend to lie about things like this…

“Both groups independently arrived at the same exact conclusion and are feeding the same exact information/disinformation to its people. Implies a near impossibility.”

Not an impossibility at all. Those who hate America and those who hate President Bush will often use the same obvious, lame, tired, and baseless arguments to bolster their POV. It doesn’t mean that there was some form of collusion involved.

So do all governments. However, the author of this piece said that this was being “fed” to the Chinese population. It’s not like the masses of China are visiting English language websites for thier national news.

It’s actually an interesting report comparing the Soviet war in Afghanistan with the current US war in Iraq.

Not that anyone would believe the conclusions drawn. After all, we’re the great and powerful (and altruistic) USA being led by our Faultless Leader.

I do like the point about the Chinese having to come to the US to get communist ideas because we have more real communists than they do – that one is probably pretty close to the mark.

As for the ‘impossibility’ issue, that’s laughable. It’s far from impossible that so many people could be naive and easily duped into believing that we went into Iraq for oil and plunder. The word you’re looking for is ‘implausible’. It’s implausible and it’s not true, but plenty of fools buy the propaganda and blieve it wholeheartedly.

Gosh…d’ya think the Chinese and the US both believe in the Germ Theory of Disease too? I’ll bet that’s a liberal/Commie plot as well! I’ll bet they both brush their teeth after eating, and they drive cars that use internal combustion engines! Whoa! Those liberals and commies at it again? Holy Jebus! Just wait ’til those liberals start pushing chopsticks on us! Then we’ll know for sure!
