Like Ellen Barkin, The Big Easy has seen better days. From the very dated 80s credit sequence to the sneering performance by Dennis Quaid, the movie really rides on its reputation.

While it does have one of sexiest scenes in Hollywood history which has the words pearl necklace, naked and Ellen Barkin in it, the movie practically throws beads at the audience begging us to show them our tits.

However, the movie still has an outstanding soundtrack and as sub-$8 DVD purchase is a bargoon. And of course, this week is the end of Mardi Gras. And music business, note the DVD is almost half the price of the CD.

Update: if you’re not in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, you watch it over the web on the Bourbocam.

And if you are participating in Mardi Gras, remember to look both ways before puking in the middle of the street.

Haven’t seen it in years so I can’t judge how dated it is, but I still love that soundtrack, just played it a couple of months ago and missed the slutty old town.
