Krista Davis lives and writes in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She is the proud mama to a gregarious Ocicat named Mochie who can open cabinets and leap to amazing heights. Her dogs, including a Golden Retriever who isn’t golden and won’t retrieve, consider Krista’s writing career a convenient second job that allows her to be available for her primary job as door opener, canine cuisine chef, and walking assistant.
Krista’s fascination with mysteries was fueled by Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, and Agatha Christie. Like her protagonist, Sophie Winston, Krista loves to entertain friends and family, but would just as soon leave cleaning to someone else.
Krista was gracious enough to share her Thanksgiving memories with me.
What are you most grateful for?
The good health of family, friends, and fur babies.
Where will you spend Thanksgiving this year?
At home. I’ll be cooking, naturally. : )
What do you do the eve before Thanksgiving?
Houseguests are arriving for turkey day, so it should be fun. Drinks, crostini, and lots of chatter.
What’s your number one splurge food?
This is an unfair question. I have tons of favorite splurge foods! Mashed potatoes. Cheesecake. Chocolate Mousse. Croissants.
What do you prefer sweet or salty?
Both. (That won’t surprise anyone!)
What are your plans for the holidays this year?
A quiet Christmas at home, followed by my annual New Year’s Eve party.
Which food and drink combo says it’s the holiday season to you?
German cookies called Lebkuchen are always my first clue that the
holidays are here.
What are the five tools you must have in the kitchen for Thanksgiving dinner?
Rack for roasting the turkey. Gravy separator. Handy dandy KitchenAid mixer.
We’re featuring an easy holiday menu at Mystery Lover’s Kitchen this year with a lot of wonderful recipes.
If you could have a dream Thanksgiving dinner party, who would you invite?
Honestly, I’m delighted with family and friends.
What’s the one Thanksgiving dish your family can’t live without?
Turkey, gravy, and mashed potatoes.
What do you do after the meal is finished? Play football? Watch football? Movies?
Pumpkin, Pecan or Apple?
I have baked them all. We tend to rotate. I think pecan got the nod this year.
Are you up early the next morning to kick off your holiday shopping?
I dream of doing that. What fun!
Thank you so much for this warm Thanksgiving memory.
Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours!
