TERRORISTS HAVE ATTACKED ON AMERICAN SOIL!!!

“CHICAGO – A federal judge who was once the target of a failed murder plot by a white supremacist was under marshals’ protection Tuesday following the shooting deaths of her husband and 89-year-old mother, and investigators were looking into possible connections to hate groups, among other leads.” From: Hate groups eyed in slaying of U.S. judge’s kin: Woman was target of failed murder plot by white supremacist.

Where are the headlines? What is happening to the “War on Terror”? If a group made up of Arabs or Persians had made a threat on a judge and then the judges family had been found dead, every middle easterner in the city would be in jail, President Bush would be voicing the outrage of America against terrorism and the need for more and more power for the office of the President to deal with it.

But because these guys are white we have to wait around until we are “sure” of what’s going on? We can’t act “prematurely” or “jump the gun”? We all can be pretty friggin sure these White Supremacist A-Holes are behind it can’t we?

Terrorists have struck on American Soil once again…

I don’t have words to describe what a momentous thing this is and how can people be missing its importance?

But BTP, this doesn’t sound like a terrorist attack, it sounds like a revenge killing by someone who happens to be a white supremacist against a specific judge who he happens to have a personal grudge against. That’s not a terror attack.

It helps if you read the article – the judge was under protection two years ago after this nutcase threatened her, but then the protection was withdrawn “after an investigation”.

There’s a nominal religious aspect to it, as well: Prosecutors charged that Hale was angry because Lefkow ruled that he could no longer use the name World Church of the Creator for his group since another organization had a copyright on that name.

Nasty, yes. Hate-crime? Maybe. But terrorist? No.

I entirely agree that terrorists should be under American soil

This is not at all suprising to those of us who deal with these fools on a daily basis. They are the classic American terrorists, the same old gang up to the same ol thang:

That’s one way of looking at it, but when I read the part, “White supremacist Matthew Hale, 33, who was convicted in April 2004 of soliciting an undercover FBI informant to kill her, is awaiting sentencing on murder solicitation and obstruction of justice.” So “after investigation” there was “proof enough to convict”. I see it as one man who was willing to kill a judge and I can easily think that he might have friends who would feel the same way.

Now why do I call these people terrorists? “Rev. Matt Hale, PM (Pontifex Maximus) (1971 -) reorganized the group in 1996, as the World Church of the Creator® (W.C.O.T.C.). Hale was formerly the head of the National Socialist White American’s Party…
…Sharing Identity Christianity’s view that non-whites are subhuman “mud people,” the World Church of the Creator (WCOTC) attacks Christianity, Judaism, Blacks and immigrants with equal vehemence.”-http://www.adl.org/special_reports/hate_on_www/www_wcotc.asp Don’t take this opinion second hand, look over this site from one Mr. Hales Splinter Groups http://www.creator.org/ and decide for yourself what kind of people these people are.

But surely these are just harmless haters? “In 1999, one of Hale’s followers, Benjamin Smith, went on a murderous shooting rampage in the Midwest, targeting Jews, African-Americans and Asian-Americans, leaving Byrdsong and Yoon dead and nine others wounded before killing himself. Since the shootings, Hale has continued to praise Smith’s deeds and has held him up as a model member of his group.” – http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp%3Fid=141%2D04262004.

These (I am including this group with all white supremacists as a terrorist group, just as the several most violent fringes of Islamic groups are lumped as Islamic fundamentalist terrorists) ARE the people who hate us for the way we live (unless we are also racists), they hate our government, they shoot and kill people, they set off bombs in public places (you may recall a bombing at the Atlanta Olympics?). That seems to me to be what some of us call “terrorists”.

So, if a group of terrorists kills a public officials family in retaliation for that official carrying out their official duties, I consider that terrorism.

When the Iraqi insurgents kill Iraqi police and trainees, there might be some cases where the killers have a personal grudge against the police for perhaps having arrested them in the past and it just HAPPENS that the killers are also insurgents as well? Why don’t we call them all “potentially terrorist attacks, committed by terrorists, but not called terror attacks pending a full investigation of coinciding personal criminal motivations”?

I probably should have put some of that into the post itself. Thanks for pointing out the parts that weren’t clear.

Now that case was terrorism, and it got a LOT of publicity and was treated very much as terrorism.

And note that I didn’t say that these racist nutbags weren’t potential terrorists, just that this particular crime doesn’t sound like it’s really terrorism since it has a motive other than inspiring terror in the general population.

That’s the key dividing point between terrorism and plain old violent crime. Terrorism has as its goal terrorising a population. Regular old violent crime has goals that are perceived as personally benefiting the criminal.
