Thanksgiving in Las Vegas sparks some interesting and unconventional choices. I don’t cook. I don’t have a large family. I live in one of the most glitzy and impersonal cities in the world. Thanksgiving in Las Vegas is everything that is represents untraditional.
Last year I indulged in the Palms Hotel’s buffet. With the traditions of turkey and cranberry, the buffet didn’t really deviate from what is considered “the norm” of Thanksgiving traditions.
This year, however, too many brilliant choices plague the epicurious such as myself. With Las Vegas offering some of the greatest deals in the city’s history, it is time to take advantage of the depleting economy and indulge in some eccentric Thanksgiving dinner choices.
Mr. Lucky’s Café, located inside the Hard Rock Hotel, does Vegas Thanksgiving for sixteen dollars a person. The menu includes shrimp cocktail, salmon and pumpkin pie.
Then there is Alizé at The Palms. Truly an experience for those wanting to class it up a bit, Alizé’s Thanksgiving menu offers a buffet dressed with pan-seared California sea bass with cannellini bean ragout, Maryland blue crab, and butternut squash risotto, among other items, for a fair price of eighty-five dollars per person.
One of my personal favorite places to eat in Las Vegas, year round, is Hash House a Go Go. See, Martha Stewart and I do have something in common. This restaurant offers their version of “farm food with a twist." Hash House a Go Go is offering a carry-out option this year for Las Vegas locals. Although the dinner is very traditional, including a ten-pound turkey and fixings, Hash House is including their Snickers chocolate bread pudding with the meal.
There are many, many Thanksgiving meal deals in Las Vegas for both the foodie and traveler aficionado types. Calling the hotels on the Las Vegas strip directly seems to pay off as the best bet right now for obtaining a great room rate accompanied by a unique Thanksgiving dinner experience. Travelocity and Expedia are also both offering special deals, including hotel and dinner, for the Las Vegas Thanksgiving Day weekend.
