For the sake of humanity, get a chauffeur - you can afford it.
What is it with Kennedys and moving vehicles? Put them in a plane or behind the wheel of a car and disaster is only a few heartbeats away. We should be glad they're so rich they ride in limos most of the time, because if not for their chauffeurs, we'd all be in danger.…

I love Arch's entire rant, well said! My favorite part, "I look foward to the day that fat fucking bastard Senator Swimmer has a heart attack and dies. With any luck John Kerry will be standing next to him at the time and he will fall on him and crush the life out of him as well with his tremendous girth. The world's best 2 for 1." Fan-fucking-tastic! Damn.

You were serious, Silas? I didn't see that mentioned in his bio. How trendy of him.
Dave

What I don't get is how people get away with this stuff. I'm 26 and almost everyone I know has gotten a DUI, and they weren't even breaking the law as far as wreckless driving...It was luck of the draw, getting pulled over on New Years for failing to signal etc. etc. Not that I'm condoning it, but it just boggles the mind sometimes.
29 - Arch Conservative
I'm going to hell for expressing my distate for the rabble in Massachusetts and their fearless leader, "the Hero of Chappaquiddac?"
I guess they're letting anyone and everyone in there these days.
I liked it better when it was more exclusive. The kind of place reserved only for you Hitlers, Stalins, Dahmers, Bin Ladens, Clintons, the French, and other nefarious characters of the world.
30 - Michael J. West
One might reasonably point out that even when walking--like through the kitchen of a Los Angeles hotel--the Kennedys are apparently in mortal danger. If I were one of them I think I'd just sit in a chair up in Hyannis Port for the rest of my life. It seems to be the only safe way.
31 - Jewels
I guess, 'luck o' the Irish' has no meaning for this clan. Karmic wheels spinning 'round.
32 - Michael J. West
Bing, you used to be entertaining in your silly little bursts of rage at the "oh so evil" Kennedys, but now you're just getting, well, sad. It's not even cute any more to see you placing the Clintons next to Hitler, Stalin, and bin Laden in Hell...actually, it's kind of pathetic. I'm beginning to feel sorry for you. What a tiny, insular, scary world you must live in.
It's appropriate that you have such vitriol for the Kennedys, since your behavior on this site makes you seem so much like Sirhan Sirhan.

Arch Conservative, it must really put your nuts in a grinder that southern NH is now dominated by people from MA who have moved across the border (and they keep going farther and farther north) and who are changing the NH voting landscape.
In about ten years, MA will probably just annex NH to make the transition easier on the newcomers.
34 - Arch Conservative
Right Michael.......... Someone compares Bush to Hitler and it's chuckles and pats on the back all day long but I express how much I hate the Clintons and I'm the one to be pitied right?
As for you Lori you obviously don't know too much about New Hampshire. There are more independents here and they tend to favor GOP candidates. Many times when people move from MA to NH they stop being liberal assholes. NH isn't going to become Mass or adopt Mass culture anytime soon either.
I don't think MA will be annexing anything anytime soon. Plus they are the only state in the nation to experience a net population loss in the last census. People are leaving the state in droves because it is such a horrible place to live. I am looking foward to the re-allocating of electoral votes in the next ten years as Mass will probably lose some while red states gain some.
In a few years I will probably leave New England anyhow and move to the south where the asshole per capita rate is about one-fifth that of New England and the winters aren't so friggin cold.
35 - Michael J. West
No, Bing. As you may know if you look up my posts here, I very recently wrote an article that took people to task for invoking Hitler comparisons all over the place.
But clearly, you aren't interested in getting the facts if they get in the way of your already-formed opinions. You've lumped me (and just about everybody else) in with a certain ideology and won't change your mind no matter what I (and just about everybody else) say or do to the contrary of that ideology.
And for that, Bing, I do pity you. I pity you very much. I think you must be a very sad man.
36 - Dave Nalle
AC, New Hampshire is on the verge of being taken over by Libertarians. Have you heard of the Free State Project?
Dave
37 - lori
I've heard of the Free State Project -- even know a young couple who have moved to NH from Maine to be a part of it.
But I think liberals from MA are moving there faster than libertarians. No matter what AC says, southern NH is experiencing a flood of MA transplants who move there for the cheaper house prices (but forget about the high property taxes) and who are still willing to pay MA state income tax on their MA jobs.
I realize that NH is currently a GOP state, but they've had a Democratic governor (a woman, to boot!) in the recent past and the MA transplants are starting to really annoy the NH lifers with their demands for mandatory public school kindergarten. In a few more years, NH will be nothing more than another Boston suburb, right Arch?
38 - Arch Conservative
Dave I have heard of it but u nlike you I actually live in NH and have not just read about it and the "free State project" has not as of yet dramatically altered the political or cultural landscape in NH.
Lori as I stated before not every person who moves to southern NH from Mass remains a liberal asshole. You are correct in stating that many who move to southern NH from MA bring thier bullshit liberal values and influence the NH culture somewhat. But you totally ignore the fact that others are affected by the already established NH culture when they move here and they themselves change. It's liek a counterbalance and I really don't see NH becoming a boston suburb in any time less than 20- 30 years.
39 - zingzing
right. it will remain a political backwater with, what, four electoral votes? three? some tiny little number. which way did it go last time? oh yeah... blue... hmm... yes, it is a fortress of conservatism! (you are so alone...)
40 - Christopher Rose
That whole electoral college vote thingy you have going on in the US is kind of weird. Does it work for you guys?
41 - Mark Saleski
and as long as ac stays in new hampshire, this liberal asshole will make sure to cancel out his vote.
thank you.
42 - Arch Conservative
When did I claim NH was a fotress of conservatism?
What I believe I said was that there are more independents than either reps or dems here and they usually tend to lean rep.
As for elecotral votes NH may not have many but at least we won't be losing any like Mass will the next time the electoral maps are drawn up. Ma ss will lose probably 2-4 and some red state in the south that is gaining population will get them. I'm fine with that.
Yes NH did go blue last time but barely and I guarentee that if the Dems run Hillary in 08 NH will go red regardless of who the GOP runs.
43 - Mark Saleski
i wish we'd move away from winner take all distribution of electoral votes.
that and un-frontload the compaign.
44 - zingzing
oh, hillary will never run. too many dumbfucks can't fathom the idea of a female president. it's political suicide for the dems to run her. maybe as a vp candidate. but, they would probably pick another woman if they wanted to try out a woman at all. she's too... divisive for this election.
45 - Arch Conservative
So someone who doesn't believe Hillary would be a good president is a sexist dumbfuck zingzing?
Or maybe they just believe she's conniving, maniacal, power hungry, extreme left shell of a human being?
46 - Jet in Columbus
Good point Zingzing... regrettable, but good point
47 - zingzing
what did i say bing? did i say hillary? or did i say woman? and yes, someone who can't see a woman as a viable president is a sexist dumbfuck. hillary as a viable president... not this time. she's too divisive. maybe the juxtaposition of the sentences was a bit confusing. she's not the right candidate. i really am not sure that any woman could win right now. of course, it hasn't really been tried... so i could be wrong. maybe it would be a landslide. i'd vote for a woman right now. men like guns too much. and killing things. but not hillary, any woman but hillary (or my mother).
48 - Arch Conservative
It sounded like you were implying that anyone who would be against Hillary as president would only be against her because she's a woman (allegedly) and thus all other women would make bad presidents as well.
This is a common tactic used by the left to label those they don't agree with. IE "every conservative or republican who doesn't agree with everything a minority does or says is a racist regardless of the substance of the speech or actions of said minority."
I think Hillary would make a horrible president but there are some women I would vote for for Pres, such as Condaleeza rice........
that's right a conservative republican white male here saying a black woman would make a good president......
now you have seen it all haven't you zing?
49 - Dave Nalle
Zing has only seen it all if he's blinkered - but then a lot on the left are. They seem to be incapable of noticing that the GOP is not racist and not sexist in ways which the Democrats only aspire to.

fuckin hell... i didn't say anything about republicans or dems... just "dumbfucks." don't try and put words in my mouth, i'll bite your dirty fingers. why would i be referring solely to republicans when i am talking about a democratic candidate? that just doesn't make any sense. learn to fucking read before you spit that shit out of your mouth.

54 - Dave Nalle
Zing, I really have no idea what the hell you're talking about sometimes. I wasn't responding to you, I was responding to AC and his characterization of what you were saying.
But I do appreciate your official endorsement of Condoleeza Rice.
Dave

hrm. yes, i was responding to a.c. mostly. if you want to think it was to you, go ahead. i've learned to differentiate between your hot air and your points that are worth the trouble.

Zing we all know you think all republicans are white sheet wearing, bible thumping, cross burning racists.

You never cleared up where you stand on Condi for president? Is she a good candidate or just a house nigger because she's a republican?
57 - zingzing
i don't want her to be president. and she's not "house nigger."
i don't want anyone connected with bush to continue his policies. and blacks and republicans are not mutally exclusive.
and, no, all republicans are not kkk members. my dad is a republican. he has his reasons. like tobacco. and he doesn't like taxes. luckily, my mother cancels his greedy, short-sighted vote out with her useless, wishful-thinking vote.
58 - zingzing
what was the edited bit? you take a swing at me? put it like this:
"it was a really cruel, explitive-ridden version of:"
59 - RogerMDillon
"Is she a good candidate"
Considering she lied to Congress, she's not a good candidate to me. She said no one could forsee the use of planes as weapons on 9/11, ignoring the fact it was planned for during the '96 Olympics.
Considering she's a black female, she's not a good candidate for the Republican party. Sure, there's some who would vote for her, but thinking she'd win the nomination shows you don't know the base of the party.
I love how conservatives don't understand that you can dislike a person of color because of the content of their character.
60 - Arch Conservative
I love how conservatives don't understand that you can dislike a person of color because of the content of their character.
That's exactly what the Dems are incapable of. They claim to be tolerant but god forbid a black person vote Republican they will throw racial slurs liek they are going out of style. Case in point.........
liberals calling lt gov of maryland richard steele "little black sambo."
And let's not forget that anytime a conservative/republican speaks out against anyone of color the guardians of leftist thoguht begin beating the drums and screaming "racism."
It's the double standard that exists with regard to race in our culture today Roger. If you're conservative/republican you're not allowed to have an opinion on anything related to race and if you do express your opinion you're immediately called a racist while liberals and democrats are allowed to say anything and everything without question.
"Considering she's a black female, she's not a good candidate for the Republican party. Sure, there's some who would vote for her, but thinking she'd win the nomination shows you don't know the base of the party."
This just shows your ignorance of our base and your desire to cast us all as racists Roger. What does it say about Republicans and thier base that she has already risen to such a powerful position in their party? What else does it say about the party that Bush has appointed more minorities to positions in his administration than any other president in US including your hero "slick willie" history Roger?
I know you dems and liberals want the whole world to believe that everyone in the gop is a racist but sometimes the facts get in the way huh roger?
61 - Dave Nalle
Man, I hate to have to agree with AC twice in one day, but he's actually right about the race issue and the GOP.
Democrats just don't get the fact that historically the racist element of the conservative movement was in the democrat party, not the GOP.
Today Republicans don't even think about race as an issue, except in a positive way for winning elections. Even the most reactionary elements in the party are motivated by ideology, not skin color. They see it as a victory and an asset to attract minorities to the party. It vindicates the universal quality of their beliefs. If anything minority republicans are valued out of any justifiable proportion by most people in the party.
Dave
62 - RogerMDillon
the name-calling against Steele was unjustified and I have said so before.
"This just shows your ignorance of our base and your desire to cast us all as racists Roger."
No, it shows I've paid attention to the history of your base. To prove me wrong, all you need to do is provide one simple fact. Name the year that a minority or a female was selected for either position on your ticket, and I'll take my statement back. Don't distract by pointing out what Democrats do. Just answer the question. Otherwise, I'm the one pointing out a fact, while you wallow in your own pool of denial and ignorance.
Maybe you weren't aware of this, but Rice was appointed to office not selected by the base, so that's a false argument. If she was s great, she would have replaced Chaney in '04.
Clinton isn't my hero, genius. While I did vote for him in '92, that's because Bush I sucked as many conservative Perot voters can attest and 12 years of Reagan went on way to long. You really need to pull your head out and put down the broad brush because your lame generalizations don't work.
"historically the racist element of the conservative movement was in the democrat party, not the GOP."
No one is denying that, but where did those Southerners go? Are they still Democrats?
"Today Republicans don't even think about race as an issue, except in a positive way for winning elections."
If by "positive" you mean telling SC voters that John McCain fathered a black baby out of wedlock to discredit him in 2000, then yes, it positively helped Bush II win an election. And you might want to hold your tongue until the '06 elections are over since the border issue hasn't been resolved.
I never said that all republicans or all conservatives are racist. I'm only going by history because actions speak louder than your words. The democrats and liberals don't have a much better track record.
63 - Dave Nalle
No one is denying that, but where did those Southerners go? Are they still Democrats?
Robert Byrd certainly is. Those who were most racist had the biggest problem with changing parties, because the GOP has never been accepting of racial activism.
"Today Republicans don't even think about race as an issue, except in a positive way for winning elections."

SC voters who were susceptible to that particular accusation probably weren't even registered members of the GOP, and just like any party there are regional variations. As for the border issue, I'm seeing plenty of racism coming from the left on that issue - probably far more than from the right. Left-wing protectionists are one of the most vocal groups on the issue.
I never said that all republicans or all conservatives are racist. I'm only going by history because actions speak louder than your words. The democrats and liberals don't have a much better track record.
Worse, IMO, because their approach to racism is to institutionalize it and provide government funding for it.
Dave
64 - RogerMDillon
"SC voters who were susceptible to that particular accusation probably weren't even registered members of the GOP,"
Brilliant. When you have no facts, use unsubstaniated opinion based solely on what would make you look better since you have no way to verify what you wrote.
65 - Dave Nalle
Sounds like a plan to me, Roger. But truthfully, I've been to South Carolina a few times, and it's not exactly chock-full of mainstream GOP voters. It's still dominated by conservative democrats and independents who agree with the GOP on only a couple of issues.
Dave
66 - Arch Conservative

First of all we are discussing race not sex Roger. Second when have the Democrats ever had a minority on their ticket for president?
Third you claim that the gop minority appointments were note voted on which is true. But they were appointed by individuals whgo were in fact not only voted on by the base but also re-elected after said appointments were made. So do you still want to persist that the GOP base is racist?
To be fair there are certainly racists in Ameeica of all political stripes and races. However today's Democrats as a party have institutionalized racism in thier approach to minorities.
The real reason most liberals hate Condaleeza has nothing to do with the war.... you guys hated her before Iraq. the real reason is that she is a very successful black woman who happens to be a conservative republican. It just galls liberals that she isn't beholden to them.....that she defies the "blacks must vote democrat to get anywhere" mentality of today's Democratic party.
So many liberals claim that republicans are more racist yet they themselves expect all blacks to be liberal and vote democrat simply because they are black.........talk about the pot and the kettle
67 - RogerMDillon
"First of all we are discussing race not sex Roger."
Yes, that's why I wrote "Name the year that a minority or a female was selected for either position on your ticket." Newsflash: Minorities are another race. However, if we are talking about the fantasy of Rice for President, then both her race and sex are important in terms of your base, since those are two strikes against her. By the way, did you have a year to correct my previous statement?
I await to be proven wrong in '08, but unlike David Blaine, I'm not holding my breath. I'll even put a $20 wager on the charity of the winner's choice that she doesn't win the nomination.
"Second when have the Democrats ever had a minority on their ticket for president?"
They haven't. That's why I wrote, "The democrats and liberals don't have a much better track record." I did notice that you narrowed the ticket to just the president. Was that so you could skip over Lieberman and Ferraro and make your side look better? Two spots out of ten over the past six Presidential elections isn't great, but that 20% is certainly better than you can claim.
Aside from your obviously poor reading comprehension, your problem is you never take ownership of your group's failures. You are too busy pointing at someone else, crying about their faults. If you were seriously interested in making the country a better place, you would want to make the GOP a great as it could be not just a little bit better than the Dems.
As far as the appointments, it's not like any of them have any real power, so I'm not impressed. Everything has to be approved by the people actually in charge.
Of course, as a white man who better than you to know what is best for the black community? It's as if you are smarter than the majority of the entire race since you can so clearly see what ails them as a group and most of them have no idea. Hmm, what's the word for that?
I already told you I haven't liked her since she lied to Congress. I know you are okay when it comes to lying to Congress as most of your administrations do. That's pathetic and shows a streak of anti-Americanism.
I'm not a democrat and usually don't vote democrat, (the last time was only a technicality because I was against the Davis recall, even though I never voted for him), so I wouldn't expect blacks to either.
If being to the left of you is a liberal, so be it.

What's up with calling Condi a house nigger? Are there house honkies out there that I don't know about? I know there's white bread but is there moldy bread?
As for the vitriolic attack on the Kennedys somebody must be jealous over their sense of entitlement. I notice he did not include RFK in his attack. I guess he's included in the overall hate wish.
You forgot the one about how Rose Kennedy disowned Kick after she had an affair with a WASP and even after she died in a plane crash would not attend her funeral. That's my family for ya...

But truthfully, I've been to South Carolina a few times, and it's not exactly chock-full of mainstream GOP voters.
Weeeeeeeeellllll...
Bear in mind that it does currently have two Republican U.S. senators, four Republican U.S. representatives (out of 6 total districts), a Republican governor, a 24-seat Republican majority in the state House and a 6-seat Republican majority in the state Senate.
The word "mainstream" is a fair qualifier, though. There is almost nothing mainstream about South Carolina.
What South Carolina IS, however, is the most bitterly racist state in the U.S. Which did do McCain some damage with the out-of-wedlock black baby allegation.

Patrick will survive. Rhode Island Democrats pray to JFK more than most Catholics pray to the Blessed Virgin. I think it's kind of sad that the entire Kennedy clan is demonized by the actions of a few. There have been many Kennedys over the years who have done incredibly wonderful things that we hear little about. Children cannot be ostracized because of the genes they carry. Otherwise the Bush Twins would be in a Kibbutz in Hebron.

Ted Kennedy's plane struck by lightning on Saturday afternoon (May 13th)
Associated Press | Posted May 14, 2006 02:06 AM
A plane carrying U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (news, bio, voting record) from western Massachusetts to his home on the coast was struck by lightning Saturday and had to be diverted to New Haven, Conn., his spokeswoman said.
The eight-seat Cessna Citation 550 plane lost all electrical power, including communications, and the pilot had to fly the plane manually, according to spokeswoman Melissa Wagoner. No one was hurt.
