It’s tag team Thai at Hurapan Kitchen in the West Village when Cecile Raubenheimer meets up with father and son Taweewat and Dejthana Hurapan. The duo team up in the kitchen to create traditional Thai dishes with a modern spin. It’s sweet, it’s salty, it’s sour. Gothamist’s food critic, Laren Spirer found the familial kitchen kitschy and tasty. With dishes like Whole Crispy Fish, foodies will sing Hurapan Kitchen’s praises with their mouths full. But the coolest thing about the restaurant is a large working gong. If you are celebrating a birthday or a special occasion, just let the owners know and they will give the gong a good whack in your honor. Unlike the Gong Show, you don’t have to exit the stage, but you may have to clean your plate.
