I'm a firm believer in the old adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I don't need to consider any scientific evidence to know instinctively that starting out the day with an empty belly is a bad idea. A good breakfast gives children and adults alike the energy to focus and perform well throughout the morning.
But with the excitement of the day beckoning, I often find it hard to convince my kids to slow down long enough to eat enough at breakfast time. Gimmicks and fun touches can go a long way to get them to eat breakfast. That's why I was thrilled to find this adorable Circus Animal Waffle Maker by Smart Planet on sale at Amazon. Priced less than $25, I bought it without hesitating.
Unfortunately, I was quickly disappointed by its performance. Although the animals are very cute and fun, it is very difficult to pour the batter into every crevice, and the cooking is uneven. Clean up of the spills is difficult, and my children were unhappy that parts of their waffles were soggy while others were crispy. The appliance turned out to be nothing more than a gimmick, something else to fill up my kitchen cabinets and gather dust.
When choosing your next waffle maker, I suggest giving this model a miss.
