Contemplating the Perfect Breakfast - Page 2

Over at UnSpun (where, it is true, I'm also a writer), they have, naturally, a Best Breakfast Cereal list. Take a look:

I guess it's not surprising that Cheerios appears at the top spot — it's a cross-generational favorite, but I am surprised that Frosted Mini-Wheats is so high (number 3 as I write this); are there that many people out there who enjoy Frosted Mini-Wheats? Sure, they have delicious frosting and have, I guess, wheaty goodness, but I've never really enjoyed the taste. Apparently I'm the only one who feels that way, but I'm not going to let it deter me.

I think that on the rare occasions I get to eat cereal I'm going to stick with my Grape Nuts. They're not flashy, but they've worked for me for years and are just plain delicious.

I know what they say about breakfast being so important, but I can't wrap my head around it. I don't start feeling pangs of hunger until 11 a.m. But like you, I'll have a big one, sometimes on weekend (more like brunch) and sometimes when traveling. Especially if I'm in the Southwest, I have to have my dose of huevos rancheros. :-)

My cereal of choice these days is Special K, which I see is practically at the bottom (#37). I eat it for a mid-afternoon snack, instead of going to fast food.

Kashi? YUCK. I couldn't finish the free sample I got from their web site. Why not call it ancient twigs, sawdust and barbed wire? I don't think cows would go for it.

Special K with red berries is what my husand an daughter eat. Me, I eat nonfat Greek yoghurt with honey, walnuts and fresh berries (raspberries, blackberries, strawberries), banana, and wheatgerm and flaxseed. Yum.
