If you are not going out but look to have a cocktail by candlelight at home, might I suggest the Robert Frost Cocktail? It is his birthday today.
Developed by Derek Brown, the recipe can be found in The Atlantic.
Mr. Brown debuted the drink at the White House Holiday Party - no small inauguration. Don't forget the dash of orange bitters. You will find "that has made all the difference."

3/4 oz. White Port
1/2 Simple Syrup - can be adjusted to taste

I'll drink to that, Kate. Seems Mr. Frost deserves to have a cocktail named for him. Cheers!!
PS> If you recall Poe's great story "Cask of the Amontillado," this is a very literary cocktail indeed!!
