Jones Soda Carbonated Candy (you'll find yourself repeating that phrase while you drift off to sleep) are small pellets of sweetness, fashioned to resemble some of their more popular soda flavors. The line has started off with three varities: Fufu Berry, Green Apple, and Berry Lemonade. Containers are metal tins shaped like oversized packs of gum, and contain fifty pieces of candy each. The "carbonated" reference is a slight fizzy sensation you receive when either putting one in your mouth, or plopping it into a drink. Imagine really weak Pop Rocks, and you'll be pretty close (imagine a really weak Alka Seltzer, and you've missed the point entirely). One of the things that has made Jones Sodas iconic are the black and white photographs, usually submitted by customers, that grace their labels in completely random fashion. Well, to bring that same spirit over to the candies, the inside of the lid is stamped with a completely random quote, which I assume have also been submitted by customers.
Are the candies good? To help answer that question, I tasted some. Actually, I tasted all of them. I had some of them late in the afternoon, which ruined my dinner. I had some others early in the morning, which performed the task nicely of discoloring my tongue before I went off to work. And then, some others I popped as the mood struck, usually while lounging on the couch and watching TV, never giving a second thought as to the fact that I might have some real food secreted away in my house (which I don't believe for a second, but it is theoretically possible). Each flavor had its own distinctive character. Let's take a closer look.
Fufu Berry - With a name like Fufu Berry, I expected some serious Fufu. Too many candies these days promise more than they can deliver, so I'll admit a healthy amount of skepticisim prior to sampling the goods. I placed one in my mouth and swirled it around, paying particular attention to the quote on the inside of the tin I was holding: "Fire makes me crispy. Ow." Sobering words, indeed. So it was with this same soberness of thought that I began to unravel the mysterious layers of Berry flavor littering the insides of my mouth. They were Berry, but were they sufficiently Fufu? On a scale of 1-26, I would rate them at a level of 18 Fufus, which I think is pretty good. This rating went up, however, when I decided to drop a couple in my Diet Coke. Now that's Fufu! The combination of these candies and actual carbonated drinks is where the real fun starts. Think of them as flavor pellets (and fizzy ones, at that) waiting to do your evil bidding.

I have had cola flavored carbonated candy from Japan, and I rather like them. I may just have to seek this out....
Now hoping that candy/food reviewing catches on here.... :)

There are plenty of candy reviews online. I write candy review on my site. I reviewed CO2 Carbonated Candy which is made by the same company that makes the Jones Soda Carbonated Candy and I wrote about the Jones Candy back in October (I'd give you links but they trigger your spam filters)
Also, Cybele at candyblog.net does candy reviews too. So there are plenty of candy reviews (and candy blogs) if you look hard enough :)
Good review!

Candy Blog is one of my favorite blogs at the moment, so I thoroughly enjoyed this candy review. It'd be kind of neat to see more candy (and food) reviews on BC.

I should have guessed that there would be a blog dedicated to candy (which means that, as a society, we now have all the bases covered). It actually looks pretty tasty. Thanks for the heads-up.
