Book Review: 120 Slow Cooker Recipe Favorites: Mary Engelbreit's Fan Fare Cookbook

As a busy mom, I really rely on my slow cooker. I can start it in the morning and then just forget about it until dinner time. If I am busy at work or running errands, dinner can still be ready on time for the family despite my hectic schedule. It really is a life saver for me.

120 Slow Cooker Recipe Favorites: Mary Engelbreit's Fan Fare Cookbook is a collection of slow cooker recipes that come from Mary Engelbreit's family, friends and fans. There are 120 different recipes that are broken down into Chilis, Soups and Stews, Beef Dishes, Poultry Dishes, Pork Dishes, Side Dishes, Dips and Sauces, and Desserts. There is also a section with metric conversions and equivalents at the back of the book.

Each slow cooker recipe is featured on one or two pages depending on how in depth the instructions are. The recipes include who the recipe came from and their location, an ingredients list and detailed instructions. Many recipes also include artwork from Mary Engelbreit which makes this cookbook not only useful but gorgeous. There is also a quote from each recipe author explaining why this recipe is one of their favorites.

This cookbook is a great choice for those that are new to slow cooker cooking. The recipes are very easy follow and require no complicated cooking techniques. There's a fair amount of canned soups, vegetables and fruits that many people will have on hand for last minute dinners. The variety of slow cooker recipes will appeal to any cook whether a beginner or advanced cook. If you're crunched for time but still want a home cooked meal, this is your solution.

If you're a fan of Mary Engelbreit, I recommend you grab this cookbook just to enjoy her artwork. Each new section features a full size panel of her artwork that is just adorable. Many of the recipes themselves also feature her artwork in smaller form whether a basket of vegetables, one of her characters or a variety of cooking utensils.

I made the "Best Ever Macaroni & Cheese" in my crockpot and it was delicious!
