Devieilhe's vocal quality and interpretive sensibility suit these songs marvelously well, whether it's Fauré's grave melodicism, Debussy's gossamer textures and fringe weirdness, Ravel's hypnotic mysteries and childlike play, or Poulenc's lighthearted colors.
