I noticed in both “Spider Man 2” and “The Incredibles” there was the same superhero stunt. Both Peter Parker, and Bob Parr stop an elevated train (based on the Chicago El) from running off the ends of the tracks by going in front, and pushing against the ties.

This obviously comes from somewhere? What I wonder is where? Superman?

About Jim Carruthers

  • While the image itself is a Superman staple – Superman the Movie had a scene of this nature – the Incredibles version very evidently borrows from Spiderman. Much of the Incredibles seemed derived, mostly from Bond films.

Of course, I could be wrong.

  • Since both movies came out at about the same time (in movie production terms) they seem to be quoting from some comic book, but I don’t know what it could be.

I’d like to think Captain Marvel because the phrase by Mr. Brain “The Great Big Red Cheese” just makes me laugh.

  • It should be noted, while Captain Marvel had a cape, it was a very short one, because “The Incredibles” shows why capes aren’t a good costume idea.
