Urban Meyer May Not Be Done Yet

Part of: NewsFlash

After announcing his impending and sudden retirement Saturday night, Urban Meyer will now take an indefinite leave of absence from the program following the Sugar Bowl according to sources at ESPN.

Steve Addazio, current offensive coordinator at Florida, will take the role of interim head coach in the meantime. Addazio is in his first year at Florida after a steller high school head coaching career and several years as an assistant including stops at Notre Dame and Indiana before joining Meyer's staff in 2005 as offensive line coach.

Florida is currently ranked in the top 5 with its pending 2010 recruiting class according to information obtained from Rivals.com and Scout.com.

BC Sports reported last night about Meyer's seemingly sudden decision to retire citing declining health as a primary motivation.

"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in a statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to reevaluate my priorities of faith and family."

Meyer is scheduled to address the media in New Orleans at 4:30 p.m. EST Sunday.
