The following is a partial transcript of the October 19, 2008 episode of the BC Sports Treehouse Fort.
Suss: The top story in baseball, the Boston Red Sox have forced a Game 7 after beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 in Game 6. This after a Game 5 rally in which the Red Sox came back from a 7-0 deficit in the seventh inning to win 8-7. Bud Selig is launching an investigation into whether TBS tampered with the Rays bullpen in an effort to extend the series so they could air more Frank TV ads.
Tuffy: The Philadelphia Phillies took care of business, though, in defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers and moving onto the World Series from the National League. The Phillies have since concentrated on preparing for the Series by petitioning the mayor of Philadelphia to ban all public performances of Rocky-themed music through November 1. Members of Survivor, desperate for any income, have threatened lawsuits.
Suss: Clemson fired head football coach Tommy Bowden this week after a disappointing start, going 3-3. His brother, ex-Auburn coach and college football analyst Terry Bowden, said that Tommy "deserved" to lose his job. Tommy responded by saying Terry "started it," at which point Terry made a plea to Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden that Tommy was "touching me."
Tuffy: Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown put on his "Make Babies Now; Ask Me How!" button this week as a foot injury put him on the shelf permanently. Big Brown's sperm is now considered a safer investment than even T-bills and Ford has promised to come out with a hybrid vehicle that can run on this new biodiesel by 2011. They plan on calling it the Ford Centaur.
