The following is a partial transcript of the BC Sports Treehouse Fort episode for February 8, 2009.
There were no headlines this week, and instead were replaced with a quick attempt at parodying the newsmaking triumvirate of Alex Rodriguez, Bud Selig, and Scott Van Pelt. The rest of the show went, in order: Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes, NASCAR jokes, incoherent laughing, "What Were They Thinking?"
• "Nasty" Nester Aparicio, Baltimore radio host, for getting into physical altercation with another radio host while at the Super Bowl
• Michael Phelps, getting caught with a bong in a picture
• Watertown/Lexington high school basketball scorekeepers, for getting into a fight on the sidelines that was caught on YouTube
• Matt Bush, former Padres No. 1 pick, who was DFA'd after allegations surrounding him involved, well, here's the San Diego Union-Tribune's re-telling:
A witness, who requested his name not be used because of the ongoing police investigation, said Bush was drunk, threw a golf club into the dirt, picked up and threw a freshman lacrosse player and hit another one. Bush also yelled “I'm Matt (expletive) Bush,” and “(expletive) East County,” before driving over a curb in his Mercedes when leaving the campus, according to the witness.
Honorable mentions: Miami Hurricanes guard Eddie Rios, for being a thief, Andy Kennedy, Ole Miss baskeball coach, for pleading with police not to report arrest/assault, Richie Adubato, for sexist remark about female NBA referee Violet Palmer
