Part of: The Ramble

The excerpt from Game of Shadows makes one thing clear: Greg Anderson ruined Barry Bonds’ career.

After reading the 12-page excerpt from the blockbuster new book Game of Shadows, and after listening to and reading all of the critical analysis that has accompanied this story, what remains unsaid is that Greg Anderson has ruined Barry Bonds' career and may be the person most responsible for Bonds not breaking the all-time home run record (assuming he doesn't).…

    Reggie Jackson is another example. He was very similar to Mantle's size, at 6-0, 200 lbs., and produced some mammoth homers. Isn't he the only guy to ever hit a ball completely out of Tiger Stadium? And again, played before the ball was juiced.

    MCH:
    i agree with your mickey mantle reference...i picked aaron for my example because not only is he the all-time leader in hr's and rbi's, he has almost 3800 career hits, and is still underrated and underappreciated.

    Sal;

    Well, my two idols when I was a kid were Hank Aaron and Pete Rose.

    I always think of this quote re Aaron (by Sandy Koufax perhaps?), "Trying to sneak a fastball by Henry Aaron is like trying to sneak the sun past a rooster."

    Bonds never would have reached aaron if he were not on steroids you can add all the extra at bats you want you still have to take all the extra homeruns that he hit while using drugs and no one here knows exactly when he started using drugs but he at his peak was only hitting in the low to mid 30's per year barry at best would have been close to his godfather willie mays no way would he have ended up near ruth or aaron you have to take into account look at all those great hitters-there last 2-3 seasons they only hit a few home runs why because they were old and there bodies were on a decline barry hit his best in his late 30's-----its clear the best he would have done is close to willie. he would have been known as one of the greatest now hes a cheat someone who has lost respect in at least 50% of the fans. now he wants protection to talk we all know the truth already what a loser 185LBS to 230+ solid muscle trap muscles like a professional bodybuilder what a joke i wish i bet all my friends years ago all the players i said were using steroids and they doubted me i would have been rich

    i dont believe anderson ruined everything he was just one of the idiots who got caught just some jerk trying to make a buck but steroids have been allowed in the game for a long time now ive lost interest at this point to me steroids are the epitomy of cheating pete rose kicked out of baseball for gambling but the 30% of players in baseball taking speed, steroids and growth hormone that the commisioner and all big wigs new about and have been lying to the public about for years there still playing ,making millions a year MLB is a joke

    it takes two to tango, but anderson's lack of real knowledge in the area of how to use PEDs certainly has led to bonds' downfall.
