Sounders Take Down Toronto 2-0 - Page 2

Part of: Pacific Northwest Sports Report

The Sounders FC have started the 2009 season unbeaten and unscored on. Things couldn’t go any better. It almost seems too good to be true. After a year of Seattle teams either leaving or self-destructing, the Sounders season, so far, has a Disney movie quality to it.

Next up is Kansas City at Qwest Field in Seattle on Saturday night, April 11th.

The team has announced that all 28,000 tickets are sold for the Kansas City match. One would think this would be a good reason to open up more seating since Qwest Field will hold up to 67,000 fans. The team has not answered why they refuse to do this yet.

Here I am, Mr. soccer mania getting in again...

Yes, a well played match. Toronto is no slouch, but the Sounders must be the hardest working team in the MLS. Their 'work rate' is unsurpassed.

Oh man, some beautiful play. Ljungberg's goal was clinical beauty. There was a pass down the right side of the field to an open spot that made me swoon, showing some teamwork that was creative and showing good 'anticipation' for the workings of the game.

Damn! I am watching Man. U vs. Portugal right now. The Sounders still have a bit of work to do to catch up to that level. But, they can do it...

So do Man U. They're good, but not quite at the level at which they can call themselves their own country yet!

They were playing FC Porto (of, confusingly, Portugal) in the Champions' League.
