SEC Week Nine Previews and Picks

Part of: SEC Weekly Preview

SEC TV Schedule

Ole Miss at Auburn
The Rebels offense woke up for the first time all season last week as they throttled Arkansas at home. Now Houston Nutt travels to a place where he’s had success (albeit as the Arkansas coach) against Auburn. The Tigers look nothing like the team that reeled off 5 wins to start the year as the offense has been unable to produce anything consistent, hanging a thin defensive unit out to dry in the process. Jevan Snead and Dexter McCluster will have big games as the Rebels are simply a better team than Auburn right now. Ole Miss 27, Auburn 9.

Georgia vs. Florida
The Bulldogs got back on track with a win over Vanderbilt two weeks ago and got a much needed week off before the annual showdown with the Florida Gators. Florida’s offense showed some improvement against Mississippi State but is still nowhere near as explosive as it was last season. Everything about this match-up points to advantage Florida, but that week off for Georgia will give the Bulldogs fresh legs and coupled with Florida’s inability to put teams away, this may be more of a game than most expect. In the end, though, superior talent and coaching will win it. Florida 23, Georgia 19.

Mississippi State at Kentucky
Mississippi State has played through a brutal schedule and is probably one of the toughest 3-5 teams in the country. Kentucky has survived its own long road home riddled with injuries though they have emerged with a winning record and a serious chance at a bowl game. The Bulldogs have been close so many times this year and haven’t been able to finish. Eventually, if you are hanging around long enough, the breaks fall your way. They fall for Mississippi State this weekend. Mississippi State 20, Kentucky 17.

I really wish I could tell you why EMU is in Arkansas in November. Perhaps they got lost. Send 'em back in one piece when you're done with them, please. They're adorable.
