Who they took would depend a lot on who is available at that point in the draft. Seattle’s roster is pretty solid so they had the luxury of taking the best player available while not having to reach to fill a need; something the Seahawks should take note of on April 25th for their draft.
When the 12 pick rolled around, the Seattle Storm selected University of California forward Ashley Walker. They took another front-line player, not to have insurance in case Jackson moves on, but because Walker, 6'1" and the Pac-10’s leading scorer with 19.8 points per game, was who the team felt was the best player available. Having Walker allows Coach Alger more flexibility in his front court. As well as being a scorer, Walker ranked third in the Pac-10 with 8.6 rebounds per game.
Without a second round pick, used to acquire Camille Little last season, Seattle took Florida State guard Mara Freshour with the 38th pick.
The next big day for the WNBA is May 17th when training camps open.
