Everyone dreams of being the hot name, the person wanted and loved by others. It’s part of being human. A daughter or son looks to a parent and Bob Knight’s basketball team looks to him. In some cases a lot of people want our services and it’s gratifying.
Nick Saban is in demand. Apparently the Miami Dolphins have lukewarm interest since he’s the current head coach, and now Alabama, desperate for a big name coach to rescue their pathetic coaching search, is apparently offering $40 million for Coach Saban to rescue their program.
It’s unknown if the figure is precise but if so it’s an inordinate amount of money for a coach who’s won a share of a National Title that clearly belonged to USC, a team that was undefeated. However, Saban is wanted by the Tide.
Make no mistake — Nick Saban is a good football coach if you take away his disastrous handling of the Miami Dolphins. He also happens to be the trendy pick due to his youth, SEC experience, and everyone else turning down Alabama. Can Saban, if he accepts, win a title at ‘Bama?
There are a number of great coaches in the SEC, including Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer, who are on the cusp of winning an outright title, and not just a share of one. Spurrier won’t win a title at the grease pit he’s coaching at but Florida, Tennessee and Arkansas are all high profile, talented teams. Let’s not forget LSU either. Les Miles was more than adequate to replace Saban.
Saban can win in the SEC, but is it worth the headache? Further, how embarrassing would it be for the Tide if Nick says no? Stay tuned.

This article identifies Saban's and LSU's national title as a championship that "clearly belonged to USC". You refer to USC as being undefeated. Check your facts. USC lost to Cal. The national title is determine by the BCS championship series, not the ap poll (aka media popularity contest). Deal with it.

Why are you attacking Angie? She just pointed out your inaccurate statement. You are the one that said it shouldn't have been a split title not Angie. It was not LSU's/Saban's fault that the BCS picked Oklahoma over USC. The BCS stinks especially @ that time.

Attack? I agreed that she was correct and then stated that LSU won a share-a split-and that she had to deal with it. We all do and somehow we get through the day.
