RJ'S NFL PICKS - WEEK 12
I went a pathetic 7-9 last week. That puts me at 95-65 for the season, which is an overall winning percentage of approximately 59%. (For a comparison, check out the "experts" over at ESPN.)
The following are my picks for the NFL's Week Twelve:
Thursday, Nov. 23
Miami (4-6) at Detroit (2-8) - 12:30 p.m.
Dolphins QB Joey Harrington comes back to Detroit for the first time since being traded to Miami for a used sweat sock. And in a particularly cruel irony for Lions fans, he's riding a three-game winning streak. I predict Lions CB Dre' Bly blitzes on every down.
RJ's Pick - Detroit by 1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-7) at Dallas (6-4) - 4:15 p.m.
Dallas is playing some solid football right now. They knocked off the formerly-undefeated Colts last week, and have outscored their opponents by nearly 100 points for the season, despite their mediocre record. And four of their last six games will be played at Texas Stadium. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, has the lowest-scoring offense in the NFC and is winless on the road this season.
RJ's Pick - Dallas by 10
Denver (7-3) at Kansas City (6-4) - 8:00 p.m.
This one is worth staying up for, so try your best to fight off the tryptophan! Broncos QB Jake Plummer has been miserable all season, throwing more INTs than TDs and barely completing more than 50% of his passes. Denver's defense had been consistently outstanding all season, but then San Diego was able to put up 35 points against them last week, at Mile High. Meanwhile, Kansas City is 6-2 over their last eight games, and is 4-1 at home. I'm picking an upset in this one.
RJ's Pick - Kansas City by 3
Sunday, Nov. 26
Arizona (2-8) at Minnesota (4-6) - 1:00 p.m.
Minnesota has lost four in a row, three of which came against noted powerhouses Miami, Green Bay, and San Francisco. Vikings QB Brad Johnson has a TD-to-INT ratio of 1:2. But Arizona is just plain awful, despite last week's "win" against Detroit. (Beating the Lions should only count as half of a win; losing to them should get your head coach sent to Gitmo.)
RJ's Pick - Minnesota by 2
Carolina (6-4) at Washington (3-7) - 1:00 p.m.
Carolina is probably the best non-Chicago-based team in the NFC. They are 6-2 over their last eight games, and have given up a total of 10 points in their last two contests. As for Washington, they've lost five of their last six, and RB Clinton Portis is injured (again).

Week 12 NFL Picks are up! :)
2 - DOM
ok.. thx for the early picks this week RJ. lets see I went 10-6 last week and if I would of stayed true to my instinct (Which is usually wrong).. I would of went 12-4. anyways.. 10-6 puts me at 105-55.
Week 12
DETROIT: Can Miami win there 4th in a row on the road against a bloodthirsty Detroit? I Think not.
DALLAS: TB wants to play but turnovers should be the nail in the coffin.
DENVER: umm... prob low scoring. *This game will depened on how GREEN will throw the ball* I say Denver takes it in dramatic fashion.
ARIZONA: Arizona will come to play.. will Minnesota?
CAROLINA: Washington's spent.
CINNCINATI: Too much fire power for Cleveland.
JETS: The jets play game by game... I cant see Houston upsetting.
JACKSONVILLE: I'd be impressed if u called this one.. but the Jags are still fighting and might devour shitty Buffalo..
ATLANTA: On the brink of desperation.. Will they show up for the game?? fighting to the death.
BALTIMORE: divisional matchup 4-6 stealers vs 8-2 ravens.. can pitts sneak one in? This should be close.. I'll take Bal to be safe.
SF: Can STL lose six in a row? I doubt it, but I would love nothing more.
SD: Brooks is back. Turnovers by SD should keep this game from being a wipe out.
CHICAGO: N.E. let down from killing GB? Chicago knows they have to show up to prove themeselves.
TENNESSEE: Will it take the Giants one more week to recover? I say Tenn gets there 2nd to last win of the season.
INDY: If McNabb wasnt out i'd take Philly, but he is. So the steak has passed through the postseason hopes of the Phillidelphia Eagles.
SEATTLE: I'm rooting for the Niners in the west, and would love nothing more for Seattle to lose. GB has a chance in this game, but should lose in the end.
3 - The Theory
Miami (4-6) at Detroit (2-8)... i'm going to go with the safe anti-Detroit pick here and go with Miami. No real reason in particular... just both RJ and DOM picking Detroit makes me uneasy.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-7) at Dallas... Dallas.
Denver (7-3) at Kansas City (6-4)... Denver
Arizona (2-8) at Minnesota (4-6)... Minnesota? At home? Against Arizona? Should be a piece of cake?
Carolina (6-4) at Washington (3-7)... Carolina. Washington has rolled over and died.
Cincinnati (5-5) at Cleveland (3-7)... Cincinnati. Because as last week proved, even though Cleveland can step it up for a huge rivalry, they still can't pull the V out.
Houston (3-7) at New York Jets (5-5)... NYJ.
Jacksonville (6-4) at Buffalo (4-6)... This game could go either way. But I'll go with the safe Jacksonville pick.
New Orleans (6-4) at Atlanta (5-5)... The saints have not been impressive lately. Atlanta has been worse than less than impressive. Meh. New Orleans, but I don't think either loss will be surprising.
Pittsburgh (4-6) at Baltimore (8-2)... Baltimore.
San Francisco (5-5) at St. Louis (4-6)... I said it several games into the season that SanFran was better than people give them credit for. I'm going to stick by that in this game and look for them to win.
Oakland (2-8) at San Diego (8-2)... San Diego.
Chicago (9-1) at New England (7-3)... Chicago, mutha****a.
New York Giants (6-4) at Tennessee (3-7)... NYG has still proved nothing to me. I have dificulty picking for a 3 win team, but will do so here. Tennessee.
Philadelphia (5-5) at Indianapolis (9-1)... Indy in a slaughter. Even if McNabb was healthy, Indy would easy take this. Indy will just slice through Philly's defence like a hot knife through butter.
Green Bay Packers (4-6) at Seattle (6-4)... Seattle.

14 - The Theory
I'm at 9-5 (damn you, Jacksonville, Carolina, San Francisco, and Chicago)... but am feeling very good about that Tennessee pick. I freaked out in the car while listening to ESPN radio and heard how THAT game went down.
(Accuscore is having an off week...)
