In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes, and irate Chargers fans...

Somebody please explain this to me.

The Steelers are trailing 15-6 with 40 seconds left in the 4th quarter. They have the ball, and it's 4th down and ten. They are in field goal range, yet they decide to go for it...and the pass attempt falls incomplete. Turnover on downs. Philadelphia gets the ball, and wins the game.

WTF? WHY NOT JUST KICK THE FIELD GOAL TO CUT THE DEFICIT TO SIX POINTS, AND THEN ATTEMPT THE ONSIDE KICK?

Am I missing something? Or is Mike Tomlin just a moron?

    Anyway...

    Final Score:

    Eagles 15, Steelers 6 - RJ 7-5

And I was laughing at Madden for picking Miami -- figuring he was drunk when he made that pick ... only 3 people on my research spreadsheet picked Miami .. I also can't believe Oakland almost won! I guess those 3 have the last laugh! And what's up with Oakland almost winning? I made a last minute change from pit to phi .. glad I did that! Mad that I didn't go with my initial instincts for Was and Minn .... damn. This week has been harsh! No matter what I'm dropping down to second in my pool ... can't wait for this GB game! GO PACK!!!!!!

    Final Score:

    Denver 34, New Orleans 32 - RJ 8-5

From this week's column: "I predict about 400 passing yards for each team, and a combined 60 points." There was a total of 66 points scored. Drew Brees threw for 421 yards, but Cutler could only manage 264. Not perfect, but not bad.

My poor Pack! And from one of the 2 teams I hate most! Wah! ... so far, the best score this week has come from CBS's "expert" Judge - with a resounding 13-2 (I'm counting the GB/Dallas game since it's pretty well over) .. normally Judge doesn't do as well because he picks a lot of upsets that don't pan out. I've only got a 9 this week ... sad part is that I'd have a 13 if I just went with the overall "winning" team from the 84 picks I compiled instead of going with my own gut feelings. For the season I'd be at 34 instead of 30 -- maybe I'll start trusting my "research" (LOL). Next week I'll post the picks that are the results of the 84 source compilation in case anyone is interested -- since it's record is pretty darn good. 8^)

    smokytla,
The "Pack" had plenty of chances to take the Cowgirls in that game. I really wanted them to win. Will say they shut T.O down. I loved the looks of digusts on his face. To bad they won though.

Yeah, I was so happy when the niners got rid of TO. He fits right in with the Cowgirls (that was cute). So happy that they shut him down -- specially after him talking all this smack about how good he is against Woodson. Well, overall this week sucked since I didn't go with the research (hello -- why did I spend so much time doing it if I didn't go with it LOL) -- sucked except for the niners winning and the raiders losing. I look forward to next week -- and I will post the results from my research. Most likely on Saturday. I agree with my fellow niners fan eel -- picking anyone who plays the lions, rams, chiefs (and I'll add raiders) is a good bet! Til next week ......
