RJ's NFL Picks, Week Nine - Page 2

Part of: NFL Picks

RJ's Pick - DETROIT BY 7

Green Bay 6-1 at Kansas City 4-3 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Kansas City by 2)

The Packers beat Denver last week on an overtime bomb by Brett Favre. They've won two straight and are 3-0 on the road. Favre has thrown for 300+ yards in four of his last five games. Kansas City had a bye last week. They've won two in a row and are 2-1 at home. Offensively, they are near the bottom of the league in points scored, rushing yards, and total yards. However, the Chiefs defense is giving up less than 17 points per game. RB Larry Johnson struggled earlier this season, but has rushed for at least 100 yards in three of his last four games.

RJ's Pick - KANSAS CITY BY 4

Jacksonville 5-2 at New Orleans 3-4 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: New Orleans by 3½)

The Jaguars beat Tampa Bay last week. They've won five of their last six, and their only loss during that stretch was to undefeated Indianapolis. Backup QB Quinn Gray put in a respectable performance last week, while wisely letting the Jaguars potent running game do most of the work. New Orleans beat the 49ers last week, in San Francisco. They have now won three straight. Despite being just 3-4, this team is probably the favorite to win the weak NFC South.

RJ's Pick - NEW ORLEANS BY 6

San Diego 4-3 at Minnesota 2-5 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: San Diego by 7)

The Chargers crushed Houston last week. They've won three in a row. However, they are just 1-2 on the road this season. Minnesota lost at home last week to the Eagles. That was their second straight loss. Quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Kelly Holcomb are both hurt, so third-stringer Brooks Bollinger will likely start this week (unless Jeff George makes an unlikely comeback).

RJ's Pick - SAN DIEGO BY 12

RJ'S LAME-GAME OF THE WEEK: San Francisco 2-5 at Atlanta 1-6 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Atlanta by 3)

San Francisco lost to the Saints last week. The 49ers have lost five games in a row, and have scored the fewest points in the NFL. Atlanta had a bye last week and has dropped three straight. They have scored the second-fewest points in the league. Joey Harrington will make the start at QB this week. This game could realistically end with a final score of 7-6. Or even 3-2...

As long as Braylon Edwards has 3 touchdowns and 150 receiving yards against the Seagulls, I'll be happy (Hey, I'm a fantasy football floozy!).

Nah. No I won't. I still want a win. But you are right about the Browns and their opponents...

    Use The Force, Braylon!

74-42 overall... looks like this week is going to be the most exciting of the season..

TB: I would be very surprised if arizona wins

TENN: doubt carolina can overcome their struggles

CINN: RB Rudi Johnson should be back after missing the past four games for CINN.. this game is a make or break for the bengals.. i expect it to be tight.

DEN: RB Kevin Jones running for 100+ yds wont be enough. i just dont think this is a good match up for detroit.

GB: even though KC is fresh coming off a bye.. i just don't think they're going to stop the big plays.

JACKSONVILLE: for the jags to pull off what they did last week.. i give them the respect.

SD: I expect to be closer than people think.. vikes havn't won a home game since week 1.

SF: Im going with the better potential

WAS: If Washington shows up, this could be a blowout.

CLEVELAND BROWNS.... Ok what RJ fails to mention is WHO Seattle has played... TB ARI SF CIN STL PITS and NO.. ok so thats not too bad right? WRONG they got shut out against PITTS, and lost to ARI and NO. so what does that leave??? TB SF CIN and STL.. man those are some stellar teams... oh also SF was the only team they've beaten on the road.. WOW.. Im taking the browns.. who are the better team.

OAKLAND: Josh McCownn is back in the line up.. im going with a rare oakland win

PATRIOTS: yes the colts are a great team... I just feel uncomfortable going against a team that is favored by 5.5 (current lines) over 7-0!! INDY-FREAKIN-APOLIS!! AT INDIANAPOLIS!!!

DALLAS: as much as PHILLY needs this game to actually get back to 500 and have a shot at the post season.. i don't see them overcoming a bigger better stronger and fresh-off-the-bye Dallas team.

PITS: before you bet the lot.. remember that baltimore is coming off a bye, and more importantly #2 in stopping the run.. Pitts passing game is 23rd in the league, but they'll have to do better than that come monday night..

Braylon Edwards is a stud. But what else would you expect from a Detroit native who played college football at Michigan? ;-)
