RJ's NFL Picks - Week Nine

Part of: NFL Picks

I went 8-6 last week, which puts me at 72-42 for the season, for an overall winning percentage of approximately 63%. (For a comparison, check out the "experts" over at ESPN.)

The following are my picks for the NFL's Week Nine:

Sunday, Nov. 5

Atlanta 5-2 at Detroit 1-6 - 1:00 p.m.

I know it's not really going to happen, but I'll pick...

DETROIT BY 1

Cincinnati 4-3 at Baltimore 5-2 - 1:00 p.m.

Baltimore QB Steve McNair is healthy again, and Billick's now making the calls on offense. Plus, they're at home and have a superior defense.

BALTIMORE BY 6

Dallas 4-3 at Washington 2-5 - 1:00 p.m.

Put a tomahawk in 'em: the Redskins are done.

COWBOYS BY 4

Green Bay 3-4 at Buffalo 2-5 - 1:00 p.m.

Green Bay has won two in a row, and Buffalo has lost three in a row. I'll side with the momentum here.

PACKERS BY 5

Houston 2-5 at N.Y. Giants 5-2 - 1:00 p.m.

Houston will remain winless on the road against a Giants team on a four-game winning streak.

GIANTS BY 10

Kansas City 4-3 at St. Louis 4-3 - 1:00 p.m.

This should be a close game. Both teams have been hit-or-miss all season, so it's a difficult pick to make. But I still think the Rams are overrated at 4-3, so I'll go with the road team here.

KC BY 1

Miami 1-6 at Chicago 7-0 - 1:00 p.m.

I would literally consider betting my life savings on this one, if I actually had a life savings to bet.

BEARS BY 29

New Orleans 5-2 at Tampa Bay 2-5 - 1:00 p.m.

Hmm. The Saints looked pretty mortal last week against the Ravens. And Tampa Bay has been much better with Bruce Gradkowski under center. I'm picking an upset here.

Atlanta 5-2 at Detroit 1-6... I would love to see the Lions win this one. But Atlanta is going to slay them pretty badly.

Cincinnati 4-3 at Baltimore 5-2... Another game that I'd love to see one team win really badly, but insteads Baltimore shall slay them pretty badly.

Dallas 4-3 at Washington 2-5... This is my upset pick. I think that Washington will not only make things hard on Dallas, I think they'll win it.

Green Bay 3-4 at Buffalo 2-5... Packers.

    Houston 2-5 at N.Y. Giants 5-2... Giants

Kansas City 4-3 at St. Louis 4-3... I can't keep track of either of these teams. But I'll side with my grandpa here and pick Kansas City.

Miami 1-6 at Chicago 7-0... Chicago. In another slaying. But this time I'll be rooting for it.

New Orleans 5-2 at Tampa Bay 2-5... I think New Orleans will righten their ship here and win.

Tennessee 2-5 at Jacksonville 4-3... Jacksonville

Minnesota 4-3 at San Francisco 2-5... Minnesota.

Cleveland 2-5 at San Diego 5-2... San Diego.

Denver 5-2 at Pittsburgh 2-5... I'm not really sure what a "Brown cow" is... but I think that Pittsburgh is going to win this one.

Indianapolis 7-0 at New England 6-1... A tough one to pick, this. Both records are stellar. Both teams are stellar. My gut tells me Indy will continue rolling undefeated.

Oakland 2-5 at Seattle 4-3... Seattle.

Best part of this week? I don't have to pick the Eagles!

All right, all right, I'll play along this time:

Alge Crumpler, wasn't that a wrestling move back in the '80s?
    FALCONS OVER LIONS

Ocho Cinco fined for gramatically horrible Spanish.
    RAVENS OVER BENGALS

Terrell Owens has a bad game, publicist says it was an accidental underdose.
    REDSKINS OVER COWBOYS

Favre still knows how to throw a football over them mountains.
    PACKERS OVER BIILLS

The Houston Oilers? I thought they moved.
    GIANTS OVER TEXANS

St. Louis isn't overrated, RJ, you're just shy.
    RAMS OVER CHIEFS

    Ass crowning will run rampant.
    BEARS OVER DOLPHINS

I as well am a Gradkowski bandwagonner. Thanks to a series of unfortunate events he's my only viable starting quarterback -- unless you count Jake Plummer
    BUCCANEERS OVER SAINTS

Pacman Jones is supposed to eat the dots, not spit them back on a girl in a nightclub.
    JAGUARS OVER TITANS

    Arbitrary sex boat joke.
    VIKINGS OVER 49ERS

Champ Kind will lose his shit. Wham-my!
    BROWNS OVER CHARGERS

Only Frodo had worse luck than Ben Roethlisberger while carrying a ring.
    BRONCOS OVER STEELERS

    I absolutely cannot decide, so:
    COLTS AND PATRIOTS TIE

Although I think I know what happens here.
    SEAHAWKS OVER RAIDERS

I deserve some of that, I guess, for my cocky statement about the Dolphins-Bears game.

But seriously - Did anyone in their right mind pick Miami to win this one?

eh, so you were off by a few with the SD/Browns match, but you did call the win. While I only caught the second half, I was quite pleased (even if I did have to split my loyalties -- such as they are -- between two "home teams").

    8-5 for me so far.

I was proud of myself for predicting Washington... though not as proud as I was for RJ getting a Lions win, hey?
