RJ's NFL Picks, Week Fourteen

Part of: NFL Picks

I went 7-9 last week. That puts me at 118-74 for the season. For a comparison, check out the "experts" over at ESPN.

[Note: This week’s column will be very short due to several factors - a Thursday game, the author having final exams to take, and the author still moving into his new place. Also, semi-solidarity with the Writers Guild of America strike. (Not really.) Please submit any complaints and/or hate mail to Blogcritics Magazine Sports Editor Matt Sussman. Bonus points for making fun of his nasally voice and pronounced stutter. (Kidding!)]

Here are my picks for the NFL's Week 14:

*Thursday, December 6, 2007*

Chicago 5-7 at Washington 5-7 - 8:15 pm (Sheridan's line: Washington by 3)

Both teams need a win in order to stay alive in the race for an NFC Wild Card spot. The Bears are 3-3 on the road this season, while the Redskins are 3-3 at home. Washington has lost four straight, and I think last week's heart-breaker was a back-breaker as well.

RJ's Pick - Chicago by 3

*Sunday, December 9, 2007*

Carolina 5-7 at Jacksonville 8-4 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Jacksonville by 10.5)

Carolina is 4-2 on the road this season, but they have yet to beat a team with a winning record. Jacksonville is 4-2 at home, and nearly pulled off the upset at Indianapolis last week.

RJ's Pick - Jacksonville by 14

Dallas 11-1 at Detroit 6-6 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Dallas by 10)

Dallas has won six straight and is undefeated on the road. Detroit has dropped four in a row, but is 4-2 at home this season. Only a barking madman would pick the upset.

RJ's Pick - Detroit by 1

Miami 0-12 at Buffalo 6-6 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Buffalo by 7)

The Dolphins are four losses away from the worst regular season in NFL history. Buffalo really needs to win this one if they are to have any chance of making it to the postseason. (Their last three games are against Cleveland, the Giants, and Philadelphia.)

RJ's Pick - Buffalo by 11

New York Giants 8-4 at Philadelphia 5-7 - 1:00 pm (Sheridan's line: Philadelphia by 3)

i'm from new hampshire, and i want to punch that girl in the video in the throat. i promise all of you that we are not that bad up here.

either way, the pats win on sunday. i think they cover the spread, too. i can't imagine coach b didn't rip everyone a new one after monday night's pitiful matchup. besides, they've been looking forward to this home game since we beat indy.

maybe that's just wishful thinking, though.

why would someone do that herself. Eventually her skin is going to snap off.

btw, I see you dislike daytime television. Does that mean you only like night games?

RJ who do i start in fantasy!?!?

Jon Kitna or Kurt Warner...? i cant decide.

as for WR's ...Detroit's Calvin Johnson?? or... Arizona's Bryant Johnson?? cuz Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald are out.

    Dec 06, 2007 at 2:23 pm

I'd say Kitna, because you just know the Lions are going to fall behind early and abandon the run...

Calvin Johnson hasn't done much lately...other than the Packers game where they kept throwing to him even though he was running the wrong routes and dropping passes...start Bryant Johnson...

alright.. ima do that then.. i have to win this game to go the playoffs.. and its a tough call between these guys... hopefully Kitna throws TD's and not INT's... and Bryant becomes Warner's #1 target in Seattle..

are you ready for some football?? still got about 6 hours but whatever...

anyways.. Roy Williams is out for Detroit.. so i cant help but think that Calvin Johnson is going to be heavily relied on tmrw... damn.. thats IF Kitna will be able to stand in the pocket for more than 3 seconds... we'll see..

also Joey Galloway is a game time decision for TB.. he hurt his toe or something... if he doesnt start that will make it much easier on the Texans.. they wont have to waste two guys on him every play.. hmmm

Jacksonville, Dallas (Hate to pick them. I hear Cowgirls like to cross dress), Buffalo (The fish had their last chance last week and killed it - losers), Philadelphia, Green Bay, San Diego, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Minnesota, Cleveland, Denver, New England, Indianapolis, New Orleans (love Kornheiser. They should bring Wilbon on and let the neurotic shrills fly.)
