"T-Mac" is already sitting at home, watching the playoffs. Now "The Answer" is as well. Will Jason Kidd be next?
The Pistons, the top seed in the East, are moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Nets, and game one is Sunday afternoon. Most people seem to be picking the Nets to go on to the NBA Finals. Not me. The Pistons may lack a real superstar, but let's remember basketball is a team sport. And teamwork is what Detroit is all about.
Take a look at their roster. Not exactly the Los Angeles Lakers, is it? But then again, Shaq and Kobe are sitting at home right now, thinking about next year. But Tayshaun Prince and Mehmet Okur, rookies both, aren't. They are looking forward to big minutes on Sunday. Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups, starters both, are playing with pain, but you wouldn't know it from the box scores.
The fact of the matter is, the next series is there for the Pistons' taking. Detroit has the home-court advantage. And they are 6-1 at home in the playoffs. And they've managed to win two on the road as well.
Kidd and company better watch out. Despite what the ESPN talking heads might say, this series is in no way a mismatch. My pick: Detroit in six.
