Elimination Week 7 results
Chelsea openly admitted to changing her mind, because she's a girl. I kid you not.
First she chose Detroit to go into Cleveland, despite not having a named starting QB, and win. After some reluctance she switched to the "safer" pick — a 2-4 Rams team without Marc Bulger against the perpetually hapless Saints.
She would have been right either way.
After being down 14-7 at halftime, St. Louis pulled away and ran 21 straight points on New Orleans to finish triumphantly, 28-17.
But Detroit had winning ways of its own. Benching Joey Harrington in lieu of vagabond free-agent Jeff Garcia proved to be the correct decision as the Lions escaped with a win in Cleveland, 13-10
Joel's pick, Washington, thorougly skinned the 49ers in D.C., 52-17. Poor Alex Smith.
Week 8 picks
This week our final two have picked home teams coming off a loss, but both face teams with even more question marks.
Joel goes with the 3-3 Patriots, compete with Tedy Bruschi, to beat the 3-4 Bills in East Rutherford.
Chelsea has selected the 4-3 Cowboys to vanquish the 2-4 Cardinals in Texas.
Neither Buffalo nor Arizona have won on the road, so these two look to be safe picks. Of course, it is the NFL. There is no such thing as a safe pick.
Picks so far
Both have used the Bucs (5-1) and the Colts (7-0).
Chelsea has used the Eagles (4-2), Ravens (2-4), Broncos (5-2), Falcons (5-2), Rams (3-4) and Cowboys (4-3).
Joel has used the Steelers (4-2), Bengals (5-2), Panthers (4-2Chargers (3-4), Redskins (4-2) and Patriots (3-3).
Winning-record teams still open to everyone: the Seahawks (5-2), Giants (4-2), Jaguars (4-2) and Chiefs (4-2).

This is still going on (smile) ?
It's nice to see Jeff Garcia back in there in Detroit. The guy is tough-as-nails and an ultra-competitor. I don't think he was ever quite given his due during his glory days in San Francisco.
Plus, he played ball for the place I went to grad school!

Well, Chelsea won...again... :-/

I've always been a Garcia fan. Even in his prime, he had so many critics and always played with a chip on his shoulder.
This game may go a while.

He has a great ability to slide around in the pocket until a receiver gets open. Tom Brady has more recently been recognized as a master of this subtle but supremely effective skill.

Yep, got my masters at the old SJSU, Visual. That said, I was rarely there as I was a distance student (50 miles or so away), working a full-time job, and moved in the middle and finished up in SoCal.

Eric, that's cool, I'll consider you a Spartan anyway. It's a small world.
