NCAA Football Week 9 Preview - Page 7

Week nine of Sun Belt action features three games that should be pretty good and one match-up that is likely to be over by halftime.

The worst game of the day kicks off first, with Ned and the FIU Panthers heading into Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs are coming off a blowout victory at Ole Miss and FIU is coming off getting blown out this entire season. Expect Darren McFadden and Felix Jones to run wild over Mario Cristobal’s squad.

Thankfully, the remaining three games on the slate should actually be pretty competitive. The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks are taking a trip to Florida Atlantic to visit the undefeated in Sun Belt action Owls. Both teams are coming off of big wins over their rivals last week, with ULM defeating the Rajin’ Cajuns of ULL and FAU defeating FIU.

In other action, the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee are venturing into North Texas. MTSU has won three of their last four games.

In the night’s marquee game, Troy takes a tip to Jonesboro to battle with the Arkansas State [Mascot Redacted]’s. What looked to be a battle for the conference title earlier this year has had some of the luster taken off of it with Arkansas State dropping 2 of their first 3 conference games thus far. The Sun Belt crystal ball this week is showing me victories for Arkansas, FAU, MTSU, and Troy.

It's once again time to check in on the WAC and see how long Hawaii can stay undefeated:

Friday
Boise St @ Fresno St (9:00pm Eastern)

It's the only game this week that really has any importance to the WAC standings (unless Hawaii loses), Boise State comes into Fresno looking to remove the only hazard between them and a match-up with Hawaii for the WAC crown. Both teams come in undefeated in conference, but only one will remain after this match-up. If you're wondering which team it'll be, it'll be Boise State, who get the edge based on their slightly better offense and slightly better defense. This may very well be a repeat of the Boise State-Nevada game, complete with an insanely high score and multiple overtimes.

Saturday
Louisiana Tech @ Utah State (3:05pm Eastern)

Utah State is struggling to compete this season, as is Louisiana Tech, but the Bulldogs are the better team here. The Aggies will drop to 0-8 after Louisiana State drops them.

Hi, Josh, your fan club checking in...

Wow, I had forgotten about the intense hatred Bama has toward Phil. Thanks for reminding me, lol. Funny how just a couple of weeks ago the Tenn/SC tilt was expected to be possibly the one that decided the East. But UT gets their 3rd blowout (when they lose, they lose big) and Spurrier actually loses to Vandy. I think you'll get your wish in this game, however.

Ga/Fla...oh yeah, Florida all the way.

    And the others:
Auburn/Ole Miss: despite the loss last week, the War Eagles have played much better since dropping one at home vs. Moo State in week 3 and will probably win out from here. So of course they'll take this one against a coach who is in a race with Bill Callaghan to the head of the unemployment line.

MSU/KY: Moo State in an upset! Yeah, dream on.
